Grounding in a 120vac environment usually will cause a big spark and pop the circuit breaker. There is a possibility the latch is like a car door latch. If it somehow gets moved to the shut or latched position when the car door is open, it will never close and latch . The latch must be returned to it's normal door open position so that when closed it will latch securely.

Your machine's latch may be blocked by something acting like the car door latch described above. It may be the switch has broken and is the "culprit".

Call a locksmith. Any break-in tricks are dangerous as they could damage your vehicle (that's why it's called a break-in).

If you insist, you could potentially slip a wire coat-hanger under the exterior window molding, between the door and the window to disengage the door lock. But, this might be hard to do if you don't have a clothes hanger with you.

Looks like a new door locj is required.

The switch is part of the loca assy. and is about $200. Try this first...

Open the driver’s door. With a screwdriver or equivalent trip the latch on the door 2 clicks so it is in the locked position, just under that finger get a can of Brakecleen and hose the snot out of it. I mean really firehouse it. As fast as it evaporates I still had it running out of the door drains. Be careful not to get cleaner on the plastic door panel, trust me take extra care. Open the outside door handle to release the latch, then open and shut the door for a while, like a few dozen times, to work the latch. Repeat as necessary. Follow up by shooting some PB Blaster, WD-40 or whatever light lube is handy. If this doesn’t work, give it might take a day or so to work free. If still nothing then the micro switch might actually be broken, but this usually does the trick

Today (4/3/09) I got a letter from Sears. They will replace the electronic control board (you know, the F-51 business) for FREE, in warranty or not. Serial #s for the Bad Board are: CS48 - CS52 or CT01-CT49. Call Sears at 800-847-9083. The voices of all of us have finally been heard!

That's awesome! I just found this site on Christmas day minutes away from family arriving and I had exhausted the manual for help. Under the troubleshooting section of the manual it lists "door Locked" light blinking as a problem with the only solution being - "shut the door." With three dishes in the oven that didn't help!

I took the advice of the site and wiggled the actual door lock on the inside of the oven and that didn't work right away either.

I had to trick the oven into thinking the door was shut by pressing the sensor on the right hand side in and then turn on the oven cleaning cycle with the sensor held down. After the lock activated and moved across with the door open, I had to hold down the door unlock feature and wiggle the lock as it unlocked. A little more complicated, but none the less it worked!

It must be a sensor inside the locking mechanism that isn't reading the lock being open - or something...

Try putting the oven in self clean cycle as if you were going to clean it then shut the cycle back off. sometimes that will reset things and gain you access to your oven vault. Outside of that you could try unplugging it or turn off the breaker for 15-30 minutes. If that doesnt work you may need to call a tech and have the door lock mechanism checked. As long as the oven is cool it should open. If it has a lever that you have to slide over to lock the door, sometimes people get a little antsy and try to slide the lever over b4 it is cool enough to open, bending the lever. If this is the case try sliding the lever to the closed position (usually it won't go all the way over) if so give it a little pressure to try and straighten it back out. (I said all that without a drop of rum!) Try reseting it turn off power ect.. as mentioned above. Then if all elese fails abandon ship and call a tech.

Have you tried pushing the door lock/unlock button? I think it may be called the "rinse & spin", and under that it says door lock/unlock.

Tool: We cut a piece a wire about 10 inches long from a wire clothes hanger. On one end we bent 1/2 inch of the wire in a 90 degree angle with needle nose pliers. On the other end of wire we put another bend at least three inches.(this end will be your handle end) Process of using homemade tool to release latch: Make sure washing machine is on a wash cycle. Use flash light to locate latch in the locking catch. Insert the small bend of the tool into the locking catch. Then hook onto the latch and pull out --apply a small amount of pressure -- about three lbs of pressure) Then at the same time you are pulling, press in on the door release button (the little white button above the latch hole where you now have the wire inserted). As your are pulling with little pressure on the latch, hold the little white button in and press the start /stop button. You should hear the door lock. Let machine start working. (about ten seconds) Now push start/stop button again and you should hear door lock release. Your lock catch should give away. This worked for us.
