Often on the upper grade washing machines, the components are a little more sophisticated. Possibly once you have removed the top lid, you will see the door latch from the back. some of the latches have a drawstring that you can pull which mechanically releases the door and opens. If you are able to before getting into stripping the wachine, gie it a quick cycle run and let it complete the cycle, Then try and open it. go from there.
Your machine's latch may be blocked by something acting like the car door latch described above. It may be the switch has broken and is the "culprit".
