We have an upright frigidaire 20 cu feet that is about 7 years old. The seal isn't as good as it used to be. The door was left slightly open overnight.after cleaning out what was defrosted I closed the door. When this has happened before I just close the door and it starts freezing again. Now however 2 days later it still has the alarm sign lit and is cold but not as cold as usual. Would it help to turn it off and let the motor rest and then restart or any other advice?
Sounds like frost bulidup from door being left open warm air gets in making frost and ice. Need to turn off for 24hrs or so to let all the ice melt compleatey then turn back on keep door closed run for 24hrs check Temp. shoud be about 0 to -5 Deg. if good start using.
