Try a "hard reset" first by unplugging the set for 30 seconds. and if no help, you may have a problem with the SMPS power supply, it might have a bad capacitor or two by now. Worth repair if engine is good compared to a flat panel.

I have a JVC-HD projection TV model 56G786 and all of a sudden it will not power on. When you try to turn it on the blue light on the power button goes on but after a few seconds it starts flashing and...

Hi,

The JVC 56G786 users manual will not give you a clear or specific answer about confirming bulb failure with the LED lamp or power indicators located on the front of the TV.

If the TV was operating normally for an extended period of time (months or years) and will not start, the problem is almost always bulb failure. If the "Lamp Replacement" warning previously appeared "On-Screen" and the TV will not start, bulb has failed.

The first step in a "no picture" situation with a JVC LCD Rear Projection TV is bulb replacement. There is no way to measure the bulb. Sometimes the bulb is visibly broken or damaged when it fails. Remove the lamp cage and have a look.

The JVC Lamp Gallery has all the JVC models and lamp numbers listed. There is also a link to DIY JVC bulb and lamp installation.

If a good bulb is installed correctly and the TV still does not start, you need a technician. There are no user serviceable parts other than the bulb. Failure of ballasts, power supply boards or controller boards is rare in these TVs.

Please help!!! Problem with JVC DLP TV

You need to replace the power supply board. The new ones have a bigger heat sink - obviously JVC knows about the problem because they made the new ones bigger. It cost $250 from JVC and I installed it myself - took about 3 hours to do. If you are not tech savvy call a repairman. Hope this helps.
