Everyone: If you are not going to answer the question DON’T POST. The question is not how to install a new battery. The question is not how to reset the system. original poster knows the battery is low. They know that pressing status tells them the problem. They know pressing disarm stops the beeping alarm for only 4 hours. The problem is it takes DAYS to get a replacement battery because only found through mail order. The unit runs on AC. So how do we get it to stop being annoying short of killing the AC, and pulling the battery -which is not logical to have to disarm for days just to get the darn thing to stop being annoying.
How to keep protecting my house, using the available AC power, without annoying alarm beeping during the night and starting its every minute beeping every four hours all day. Totally bad design if no way to shut up a known battery problem.
The Simon 3 supervises the panel battery and when it's bad or the a/c has been out for a long time..will likely have to charge the battery. A problem arises where the keypad unit will not acknowledge that the battery has been recharged/replaced without you doing a basic power cycle. Whenever this panel battery is replaced in a Simon 3 (worn out or depleted from no A/C (power-outage)) you should disconnect the A/C adapter, install the new or recharged battery properly and hear the panel tell you it's ok..."..simon ???? is OK.." and THEN plug in the A/c adapter. Assuming the panel is not damaged..it will talk when a suitable battery is installed with the A/c out. If it doesn't talk..check the battery with a test meter. Voltage over 6 volts(approx) is required to make it talk. Of course, after a total power cycle you will have to set the clock.
Remotes(key fobs) aren't usually supervised (as they are carried away from the site) so it's unlikely it's referring to a key fob low battery. Might you be talking about a remote keypad or device in another part of the house or garage that may have low batteries..finding it and checking the batteries will clear the second part of your beeping.
Can I assume it is a wireless contact we are talking about?
1.) Low battery in tansmitter. Does your keypad display a low battery trouble? If so, ensure you put system in test before replacing battery as not to generate a tamper alarm when opening contact.
2.) Relay in transmitter is sticking. Replace wireless contact.
Push down on the tab at the top of the panel and open the front panel (Panel will say enter security code now). Put a slotted screwdriver in the top hole and depress to fold dowm the second door. Battery is inside the plastic case with two screws holding on the lid. The battery is a 6V 1.2AH battery
temperature affects batteries. if the batteries on the window sensors have been in use for some time it is probably time to change them. Alarm batteries are only expected to last 3 to 5 years with moderate use. If you have close neighbors or live in an apartment complex then false reads could be a factor.
