GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator Logo

I have a 3 yr old ge Profile side by side refridgerator model #psc23sgrdss with the following problem. on 3 occasions in the last 3 wks I've found the temp. in the refrig section very high ( 56 degrees and yesterday 85 degrees). I turned on the turbo cool feature and this brought it back to normal; The freezer temp was okay except this last time when it climbed to 11 degrees. It seems to be okay now, but obviously something is not functioning right. Do you think it could be the fresh food fan & damper assembly?

I had same issue this past week. Refrigerator up to 45 freezer up to 15. Ice would melt and then everything would get cold again. Ice formed on everything. Next thing you know it was warming up again. I knew the rubber seal on door flap that opens to let ice out warped during summer months because I keep it 78 in summer. Had that replaced today. Temperatures have gone back to normal and stayed ALL DAY (knock on wood). Check door flap seal sticking your hand up making sure you don't push in the water tab. You should be able to feel if it is warped/wavy like an old LP or not. Good Luck.

Home from vacation--no ice.

Check the fill area of the ice maker for an ice blockage.

- make sure the tube on the back of the Ref. is connected to the white rectangled block of the fill tube.

- check to make sure the water filter in the bottom of the unit was not kicked and has popped out or is not seated / locked in place.

- Check to see if water is actually getting to the unit.. from the 1/4 inch supply line.

If your icemaker is the common one there here is a way to test it:

(I noted GE Profile but not an exact model number)

Vegetable and fruit crisper drawers freezing foods

I had the same problem. Apparently the problem is the main control board. According to the technician that came out to fix mine there is a design flaw and these boards are very sensitive and can blow a circuit or malfunction from the slightest power surge. What happens then is that the control board doesn't "tell" the fan to turn on and off at the right time so the fridge and freezer warm up too much before the fan kicks in and then it cools everything down but since the fan isn't running at the correct intervals and circulating the air all of the cold air settles to the bottom which causes the produce in the drawers to freeze while the top shelves get warmer. I had done a fair bit of research before calling GE and came to the conclusion that this was a common problem. So I pressed them and was able to get the fee for the part waived (before I made the service call appointment) which was around $150. The part now has a 5 year waranty which I find funny, because I'm not sure why it wouldn't have that upfront as my refridgerator is only 2 years old. Whatever!! Unfortunately, unless you have indepth knowledge of refridgerator repair there is no way around the service call and labor. Anyone buying a new model of refridgerator (any company) should consider an extended waranty. The service tech also told me that all refridgerators made after 2001 are required, by law, to have an electronic mother board which in all likelyhood will fail at somepoint prior to when you are ready to buy a new fridge!

Good Lucak!

Refrigerator door is not shutting right

You need to replaced the door cam assembly on the bottom of the refrigerator side. It is probably cracked and hanging up.

GE PSC23SGRDSS Icemaker not working

Take the ice maker out and pull the square cover off of it. If you have the type with a plastic "gear" (about the size of a half dollar) on it check to see if the tabs that hold it in place are not broken (it's common). The gear can get cocked or even fall off and that will cause the IM to stop working. If it's the type with a circuit board in it check it for loose connectors, etc. Both types have a thermostat in them to sense the temp of the freezer (must be about 15-17F for IM to work). It's rare that the t-stats go out but it can happen. The "motor module" is a high failure item (about $60 bucks and easy to replace). Let us know what you find.
