Are you using the atm_304e driver from epsonexpert.com? If you are try this
1. Reinstall the driver but don't uninstall the previous install
a. Go to C\Epson Advanced Printer
Driver\Setup_TM.
b. Run SilentInst3.
c. Turn off printer.
d. Select OS and
language.
e. Select Printer and
Modules. (In this case use TM-U220 Receipt)
f. Configure port
settings (par, serial, usb, ethernet or wireless)
g. Turn on the printer
before clicking finish.
2. Move
TM-U220 from ESD port to File Port
3. Wintest
page-OK.
4. Open
Operation tab of TM-U220.
5. Open
drawer 1 in Start of Document.
6. Print
receipt from app-OK.
Hi
Please make sure that all the cables are connected firmly.
If so then you will need to uninstall and re-install the printer drivers from
the CD provided with the printer. Hope this helps...please post back for
further assistance.

I use the printer with a POS system written in MS Access on a USB port running XP. The computer recognizes the printer. I use it by updating data in a table to reflect my current sale then printing a report that is tied to that table.
Works fine. Ejects the printer drawer.
Thing is, I'd like to have the option of ejecting the drawer. I don't need it opening if we take a check or it's a credit card sale.
I have no problem with having to select a report based on this criteria, i.e., one report open the drawer and the other doesn't, but it seems that simply writing data to the printer triggers the kick drawer action.
In a previous iteration with a close relative of this printer I wrote raw data through the serial port and I could control this. Alas, the new computer has no serial port so I bought the U220 and began using USB.
Any suggestions?
