what driver do I need to download? Im unsure of what i need.

  • elem Jul 18, 2008

when i put the sd memory card in the card reader it is not detected.

  • Rachaelle Sep 08, 2008

I had to recently reformat my computer, but I did not have my start-up CDs with me (I am in a different country for a few months) so I used a friends who had an extra copy and my windows was downloaded without a few drivers (sound, graphics, internet, etc.) I found the drivers for those three but am unable to find the drivers to recognize DVDs and my media card (XD or SD) from my camera.

I tried downloading the driver for the media card from dell.com (the r5c832) but it did not make a difference.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    I have a Dell Inspiron E1505

Have you tried dell's website for any drivers. If there are, reinstall them and see if that fixes it.

  • Anonymous Apr 05, 2008

Go to www.dell.com then, support and help. Next go to drivers and downloads. Ater that, enter your service tag to search drivers for your laptop. Once shown, select your operating system. Finally, click on the chipset drivers. Should be twoof them. Download the Ricoh driver. Labeled as R5C832.

This is your memory card driver. Works for XP or Vista. Hopfully this works for you.

I would post a link but, it doesn't take you right to the download.

I've had the same problem, and discovered that it's the same failure as other people have reported with external USB devices. (This memory stick reader is essentially an internal USB device). The solution is to shut down the computer, and to remove AC power from the computer for 15-30 seconds (i.e. unplug it). Then reconnect power, and restart the computer. This has worked for me 3-4 times I've had this problem. I think the true problem is that there is something wrong with the USB driver, but this has worked for me every time. The key is that a reboot of the computer is not sufficient, it is important to remove power.

Sorry, my last post is more appropriate for a desktop computer. For a laptop, the same solution applies, however you need to remove the battery from the laptop while AC power is removed to allow the computer to be fully reset.

I had this (my card reader wasn't recognising any card) problem since long time, I tried everything available online including reinstalling card reader drivers (from dell - http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/downloads/en/downloads_splash?c=us&l=en&s=gen&~mode=popup&file=188377)

Nothing worked, Finally one day I had uninstalled an virtual image drive from my machine for some other purpose, and the Card reader started working!... Yuhoooo!

Where can you use a sd card on a dell inspiron 530

The 530 doesn't have a built in port for the card but you could find one at www.surpluscomputers.com that will read multiple types of cards. Have you tried plugging a USB cable from the camera to the computer and downloaded the info that way?

Memory card slot

The Dell Inspiron 531s does not come with a memory card reader slot.

This is Dell's specifications on the Inspiron 531s,

http://www.dell.com/us/en/dfh/desktops/inspndt_53xs/pd.aspx?refid=inspndt_53xs&s=dfh&cs=22

Left-click on the Tech Specs tab.

You could use a memory card reader that attaches to any of the computers USB ports.
Here is an example,

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1187796&CatId=942

Scrolling down the page, shows you an animated gif of this memory card reader.

Memory stick pro not recognized any more by dell inspiron 6400

I suggest going into the control panel/device manager and removing all the usb devices.
Restart the computer and let it find the devices again. That might help.
Also--have you tried the stick in another computer just to make sure it works?

Dell e1505 SD card reader issue

You installed the driver for your card reader for the laptop. If its not recognizing any cards you put in there then that means the reader is bad and since that is integrated onto the motherboard, replacing the motherboard would be the only option in order to fix that problem.

Kingston 4gb sd card won't read

I had a problem with lenovo's reader like this, because i put in the nokia 6600 card, correct format and all, but apparently too old and not yet ment to be read by a computer ...

sd could still be hc ... the system of names is still not set up right. if you got a small black attachment for the card that makes it longer, put it on and try inserting the card again.

check if all the drivers are like they should be.

if you've got a friend with a card reader, make sure the card is ok. and if you've got a friend with a card, make sure the reader is like it's supposed to be

post a feedback, ok

Dell Inspiron E1505 Memory

HD 'memory' is considered secondary or storage.
In <Control Panel>::<Add / Remove Programs>, it should give you some indication of the size of the programs, as will hovering the mouse over the folder in which the program is situated [not as reliable as it once was as many dlls are stored in windows folders].
