SOURCE: Printer will not communicate with computers

Whenever I have seen this problem it has usually turned out to be one of the solder points on the USB connection in the printer. Of course it could be a logic board problem as well. Well done for testing your problem so thoroughly (eg trying different cables and machines) but I think it needs a repair agent now unless it is under warranty (or you can solder well). Mind you it's probably cheaper to purchase a new one then to pay to have it repaired.

The ACTIONTEC GT124, M1000 and PK5000 Routers are not compatible with wireless-enabled all-in-one printers. These routers cannot connect to your all-in-one printer because they do not support the multicast protocol. Contact your router supplier for additional assistance and to determine if your router will be able to support the muticast protocol in the future.

Having an issue getting my laptop connected to the internet. The wireless networks appear and it shows that i am connected to the linksys, however i get a dns server issue when i try to go online. It shows...

Hi,
I see that your having issues with you wireless connection, you mentioned that it is an old model Router that has a B wireless signal and that you are connected to the Router but you get an Error about the DNS having issues, try checking your Routers Network Key, make sure that your Network Key in the Laptop and Router are the same.
- to get in your Belkin Router you must type in your Default Gateway on you browser ex. IE, Firefox 192.168.2.1 then press enter after typing your Belkin's Default Gateway you should get a window prompting you for a user name and password
mvincentc_15.jpg

your user name would be admin and the password leave it blank then press enter unless you have changed the user name and password setting of your Belkin.
- check under wireless and security to see your Network Key/Security Key and copy what you have in you router and use it on your laptops network security to be able to access internet from your Belkin Router.
Hope this helps.

I have a hp pavilion dv7-2277cl laptop (64 bit) and a hp laserjet 2605dn. suddenly the communication between the two has gone missing. This is a wireless network and worked until last week. I have down...

The one that is missing in the network is the printer. So try to reconfigure the IP of the printer again using the wireless wizard in the printer manager. Or go to Using the HP Network Diagnostic Utility in Windows - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

Also ; Very seldom does the printer itself cause problems. To determine if you have printer trouble, do the following:
  • If you're using a wireless connection, see if the wireless indicator lamp is illuminated? Can you turn on the wireless radio from the control panel of the printer?
  • Print a Network Configuration page and a Wireless Network Test report from your printer's control panel, if available.
    • Does the Wireless Network Test report indicate trouble?
    • Does the report indicate that the printer is connected to your wireless router, and not to a neighbor's? The network name the printer is connected to will be shown on the both the Network Configuration page and Wireless Network Test report.
    • Compare the printer's IP address [X]
      IP address
An IP address is a series of numbers by which computers, printers and other devices on a network are known. An IP address is usually issued by the local wireless router (network) from its DHCP service. A device is given an IP address that is similar to the wireless router's IP address. For example, if the wireless router's IP address is 192.168.1.1, a printer may be given an IP address of 192.168.1.5. to the gateway IP address [X]
      Gateway IP address
This is the IP address of your wireless router. . They should have a similar format (for example, the gateway IP address might be 192.168.0.1 and the printer IP address 192.168.0.5). If the printer has an IP address similar to 169.254.XXX.XXX, it probably is not connected to your wireless network.
    • On some printers, the Network Configuration page will list all wireless networks detected in your area. Is your network listed among those found? Does it have good signal strength?
    • Are there several wireless networks on your same channel or using channels close to your channel? You should use a channel at least 5 channels away from the closest used channel. Consider changing your wireless router's channel to 1, 6 or 11.
  • Are there any error messages on the printer or unexpected blinking lights (consult your manual to determine what to expect)?
  • Reset your printer (usually by removing the power cord from the back of the printer, waiting 30 seconds and then reconnecting the cord. Consult your manual for specifics).
  • Restart your wireless router [X]
    Wireless router
A wireless router is networking hardware that allows both wired and wireless devices to connect to a network. When connected to a wireless router, devices such as computers, printers, and other Wi-Fi enabled electronics can share one Internet connection AND connect to each other. Connections can be made to the wireless router through a wireless connection or a wired connection using an Ethernet cable. by unplugging the power cord, waiting 60 seconds, then reconnecting the cord to the wireless router.

Gateway not pinging from dwl 3200 ap . AP=192.168.4.250/24 in the same subnet, gateway=192.168.4.1 , gateway assign also on wireless adapter , wireless adapter address also in the same subnet with right...

Remove the cables from the gateway router to the switch to leave only the uplink cable or connection to your telephone socket.
Test connectivity by plugging your laptop or computer directly in to the gateway router and test web access using an Ethernet cable.
Your laptop /computer may need to be rebooted for new ip. If ok reattach the unmanaged switch a retry by attaching the Ethernet cable to one of the ports on the switch. If ok, this limits the problem to the access point.
The main problem is that you have two layer 3 devices connected together by a layer 2 switch.
The solution would be to retain the configuration on the gateway if all ok. Change the access point to a different sub net and SSID to the gateway router.
If you can shut down the broadcasting from the gateway as all WLAN will be done through the access point.
Ensure that DHCP and DNS is switched on, on the gateway router.
All computers should be configured to use the gateway router address as this will allow the gateway to provide routing across the network.

Connected to wireless router, not connected to the internet

Try setting up a new network connection in the Network and Sharing Center. You'll need your info from your router like:
router username:
router password:
network name (ssid):
network security type:
network security key:
connection type:
Some will also ask for a serial id(I've only ever come across one)

I've never used your particular brand of router but it ought to work the same way as far as the setup.

How can I connect my alltel internet card to my wii system

Unfortunately you cannot insert your USB modem into your Wii and have it recognized. Your Wii does not have the ability to operate plug and play devices in the way that your lap top does. The Wii needs to be hooked up to a LAN (local area network) via a wireless G connection from a wireless router or wireless capable modem, or hard wired to a modem or router with an ethernet cable (looks like a big phone wire).

There is a way to share your lap tops internet connection using an ethernet switch (depending on your operating system). If this is an option that you wish to explore and you have the necessary hardware, re-post asking how to set up a shared internet connection using a computer as a residential gateway. Depending on your operating system this can be done quite easily. You will need a computer with an internet connection (which you have), a 10/100 Ethernet switch, and two Ethernet cables. A switch is relatively inexpensive and the wires are as well.

I hope that this helps you with your problem.

Good Luck!

My router is connected to my pc. i also have a wireless alltel card for my internet connection. was working perfect but now even when i'm on line on main pc. can't get connected to my laptop and xbox or...

You will need to check your IP address first to see if you have all of the connections. Do this then post your results: Click on start>run>then type cmd. This will get you to the DOS prompt. Then type c:>ipconfig /all
You are looking for two addresses the Gateway address (that is your router) and the DHCP address that is your computers ID. If one of them is missing then the problem lies at your Internet provider not your router. Check if all of your lights are yellow on your router. If one of them is orange then its your Internet Provider. Good luck. Post the two addresses if everything checks out ok.
