You need to finalize the disc before trying to play it in any other DVD Component.
Please try to copy the videos in the Camcorder to a Computer. Then, burn the videos from the Computer to a DVD disc using any burning software in the Computer. Then, try to play that DVD disc in the DVD Player.
Try to use a cotton swap to 1st clean the recording lens or blow gently
on it. Place an empty disc in, format the disc, record a little scene.
Turn off camcorder. Place the error disc in the camcorder, turn on the
camcorder all the way to play/edit. If this doesn't work turn it to
record and try to record. Worked for some of my error disc
Please finalize mini dvd disc if its full or when recording is finished. Without finalization dvd will not be playback anywhere except camera. DVD Finalize option is available in camcorder Menu.
Once you have "Finalised" your mini disk in your camera try playing it in your PC drive - it should work. The ability to play on a regular size DVD player depends on how modern your player is. Not all players accept DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD +-RW formats. Good luck.
This camera uses memory stick duo memory. If you refer to p. 31 of the user manual found here: http://www.docs.sony.com/release/DCRDVD105-205-305.pdf It is right beneath the strap. Keep me posted. I hope you find this FixYa worthy. Thanks, Lee
If your discs are rewritable, you could try putting your discs in your computer. Try opening the folders and try to open all the files. Some of the files may be your videos. If it opens your video player and plays your videos, wait until it plays everything to make sure that all your data were recorded in the disc. Copy everything in your computer and remove your disc. Try playing it again and if it works, then it's already ok. When you are planning to use it again, make sure that you format everything in the disc.
My LED is damaged too...don't know how it happened, but..if you hook your handycam to your TV - you can see the LED on the TV and know where to press on the LED to finalize.
