Question about RCA Scenium HDLP61W151 61 in. HD-Ready Television

Open Question

Where is the ballast located on the RCA Scenium? I have a 61", replaced the lamp in early Feb. 2010 and now we have no picture but do have sound. I checked previous posts and found an answer, the ballast or the DMD corad, which i do not thisnk this is. Is it feasable to replace this ballast on our own? If yes, where is this located in the TV? Thank You

Assuming that the replacement lamp is good, you could be looking at a bad ballast (lamp power supply) or the switch on the lamp door itself could be causing the issue. The light engine also could cause an issue like that. I would have a technician look at it as this is beyond consumer repair.

Sounds like a cold solder joint in the power supply or faulty capacitors.

SOURCE: dark picture on RCA Scenium 61 in DLP

Yes, the lamp will gradually get darker as it nears it's end. The rolling lines sounds more like the set is on a local channel for the cable hook up. If your local area has a channel 3 or 4 live terestrial broadcast simply tune the cable box output to the other one, the same for the tv.
If this is cable/local broadcast issue it will go away in Febuary when the NTSC broadcast ends.

I have a hd61lpw165 big screen tv that makes a loud buzzing sound as soon a it goes on with no picture.

sounds like the lamp or ballast, check the lamp first to see if good, then if good, then probably the ballast is bad, but I think the sound or buzzing is coming from the ballast, so it's should be good.

My RCA Scenium picture just went black out of no where. I can still hear sound, it will change input but nothing shows up on the screen.

Take the Lamp out and see if it is shattered. The access door is on the left rear of the set. Chances are the lamp is the problem. The Lamp cage has the part number on it.
I hope this helps,

Probable failed light source (lamp). These are available from many sellers; expect $100+ US and shipping.

I replaced bulb, I have sound but no picture. There is no light in rear of T.V.

If bulb is new, try resetting bulb life timer by owners manual, If needed, test and/or replace the ballast which controls power to bulb.

Dark picture!

The Lamp it self, the Ballast, or the Power Supply that powers the Ballast. Even a combination of the Lamp and Power Supply is a common problem. If you have not replaced the Lamp since you have owned the set I would replace that first. The Lamp has about a 3000 to 5000 hour life span.
Hope this helps,

Buzzing noise, sound but no picture

It sounds as if the lamp needs to be replaced. The buzzing sound you hear is the ballast attemting to fire the lamp.
