Ge Dryer making loud rumbling noise

My GE Dryer (4years old) makes a loud rumbling noise while drying. It dries clothes just fine and there are no other issues, but the noise is rather loud-the dryer doesn't move or **** at all it's just the really loud rumbling sound. Any ideas????

I have the same problem. I have already taken it apart and replaced the front glides and bearing slides which were worn completely through and the rear bearing that goes behind the drum where the shaft connects to the back.

Our GE dryer has just recently starting making a rumbling noise of unknown origin. Its 5 years old. It is still functioning, but something is not right. I was hoping it might be the rear bearing or glides and was unhappy to see that some else with similar problem replaced those with no success. My top is off and drum out, but I dont see any obvious problems and was looking here for possible solutions. If I find one, I will surely post.it. Very glad to see the information here that I am not the only one with the problem.

I have the same problem. My dryer started making a loud rumbling noise a few days ago, and I opened it up. I could see that the glides were getting worn a little bit, but obviously not the problem. I was going to order the rear bearing kit until I saw this post. Is it the motor making the noise? Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

I would check your blower wheel. I went through a similar situation after replacing the belt. It would start up and the rumbling was terrible (though it worked). I fooled around with the rollers. Then ran without the belt..it was apparent it had nothing to do with the barrel. Checked the blower and a couple of blades had broken off. It was enough to throw it out of balance. Slapped on a new blower fan..all is well.

GE 5 Cycle Automatic Heavy Duty Extra Large loud noise

All ge dryers have a center bearing on the back side of the drum and drum glides on the frontside. The glides make a scrubbing sound when bad and the drum is hard to turn. The rear bearing does a squeak thang when the plastic bearing wears thin and begins to make metal to metal contact between drum mount and rear bulkhead mount. It is an easy fix but the drum gotta come out. here is my pictorial page that shows how with videos and repair pix:
