I have a Viking cooktop with a fan that rises when the side button is pushed. The fan will no longer go up. How can I fix it?

I just finished researching the same issue for my 36" downdraft. It appears that the ost common problem is the little up/down switch.

Most folks on-line were being told that they had to buy the whole top unit for $500.00 plus labor. But an electrical engineerpointed out that allvikingparts.com sold a switch for about $60.00 delivered.

It seems that if one holds the switch for an extended period of time it can heat up and burn a connector - might be a coincidence, but my unit stopped working just after my 4 year old grandson visited for two weeks - I made the mistake of showing him how pushing the button would make the vent go up and down. So the switch probably got mre use in a week than it had in the eight years since it was installed.

You can simply peel your switch off with your finger nail ( it will stick right back). On mine I noticed that the center "wire" hade a dark line through it which probably indicates that it is "burned"

My part is on the way.

Hope this helps - $57.00 is much easier to swallow than $595.00

Downdraft ventilator has stopped working

We have a Viking VIPR101 30" downdraft ventilator. We've learned that the ON-OFF switch on the side of the ventilator can overheat and burn out when it is held down continuously (poor design). Best to push and quickly release it. First time we had the switch professionally replaced--it's modular and very simple to swap out. Next time we fixed it ourselves with switch part # PV300182 from allvikingparts.com. They had replacement guidance on-line. Hope this is useful.

What do I do if my convrction function does nit work on my viking oven?

Hopefully it is just the switch and not the fan. Either way you probably need to just have it repaired unless you are comfortable with electronics and wiring. Visits my site www.60cubits.com and look at the links on the right. Repair clinic has parts and repair manuals for a lot of appliances - the manuals are free online

Stove is tripping circuit breaker Two burners stopped working properly (only get slightly warm). Switched the coils to the other side and the other side is still working. Looked underneath and saw that...

if it is an old stove i would say have it serviced/checked over. if it is a newer stove i am guessing the circuit breaker predates it and is rated for the old stove therefore you will need to have a larger circuit breaker installed (by a licenced electrician)

Only 1 of 5 burners is working on my Viking electric cooktop

By only 1 burner working, I take you mean only 1 ignites, then it sounds as though you have an issue with the spark module being defective. There is usually an access panel on the bottom of the unit, although not on all of them. Remember to disconnect from the electric.
