"You may be a victim

Welcome to FixYa!

If you're seeing notifications that the copy of Windows that is installed on your PC might not be genuine, or that you might be a victim of counterfeit software, it's likely that your copy of Windows was not properly activated or is otherwise not genuine. To fix this, click the notification and follow the steps to either repair Windows or-if you have inadvertently obtained counterfeit software-buy genuine Windows.

If you are using Windows XP, download and install the Windows Genuine Advantage Notification Application. It will scan your operating system and will remove the annoying message if it's a legitimate copy of windows.

Keep me posted.
Thank you for using FixYa.

You may be a victim of softwwre counterfeiting

Microsoft has started bugging the users of non genuine copies of Windows. If you are also running a non genuine or pirated copy of Windows then there is a full chance of you getting this notification one day or the other.
These notifications start coming back again after some time and do not feel good. Though I never encourage piracy but here is how you can remove this problem:

1. Before doing anything serious try restoring your system. If the problem is occurring after the Windows Update then System Restore will surely help.

2. But if it does not then do try this, launch Windows Task Manager.

3. Locate the process "wgatray.exe" and end it.

4. Log in into the Safe Mode and delete the file WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32

5. Also delete the WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

6. Type regedit in Run to open Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify key.

7. Delete the folder WgaLogon and all of its contents.

8. Restart the PC normally.

Update:

Download this WGA remover tool called RemoveWGA.exe, just download it and run.

Why am does this message "you may be a victim of software counterfeiting this copy of windows did not pass genuine windows validation" promptly appearing on my desktop?

It means that the copy of microsoft windows installed on your system in not a Genuine Copy (not original, duplicate copy). If you purchased it from a retailer or from an online store etc.. you can complain them about this issue. We can get rid of this notification, but it's not legal. So I don't recommend the method, but instead you proceed with the complain. I hope you understand what I mean.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Software conterfeiting pls.. remove this

Click here: http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/RemoveWGA-Download-42782.html
Download that program.
Run it. It will remove the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) Notification Tool, the one that says you may be a victim of software counterfeiting.
Don't worry, you are not in any danger. That tool (WGA) is another useless and harmless but annoying program that you really do not need.

How to delete the genuine microsoft logo at my desktop

There are several ways to disable WGA notification. Some of them are given below:
1- Through Firewall WGA notification can easily be disable through your firewall. You can disable the automatic start up of wgatray.exe and wgalogon.dll through your firewall. This will disable WGA notifications and this will do no harm to the system.
2- Through third party softwares There are many softwares available which can disable WGA notifications. Notable softwares include WGARemover and MUBlinder.
3- Through System Restore If you have installed WGA by mistake, you can always use your system restore to get rid of it. Restore your system to the point where WGA was not installed.
4- Through deleting files manually To remove WGA manually, follow the steps below:
  • Download this bat file
  • Double click it and restart your system
  • Most probably, you have successfully deleted all the files used by WGA. Now it should not come at logon.
If this bat file does not work, you should manually delete the following files from your system:
  • X:WindowsSystem32wgatray.exe
  • X:WindowsSystem32wgalogon.dll
(Where X is your Windows Drive)
And you must also create an empty wglogon.dll file in the same directory from which you are deleting it.
Restart your system once you’re finished.

Let me know if this works for you or if I can help you with anything else.

I am a victim of of software counterfeiting

Don't do anything online. You're probably installed WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage).

Try to find REMOVE WGA on www.softpedia.com

That little hack tool should solve your problem.

Or simply reinstall your OS.

I have problem with my desktop.

Hi,

Try to follow some of these methods:

First Method
  1. Lauch Windows Task Manager.
  2. End wgatray.exe process in Task Manager.
  3. Restart Windows XP in Safe Mode.
  4. Delete WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32.
  5. Delete WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32\dllcache.
  6. Lauch RegEdit.
  7. Browse to the following location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
    Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify
  8. Delete the folder ‘WgaLogon’ and all its contents
  9. Reboot Windows XP.
Note: With this method, you may be prompted to install WGA Notifications again which can still be unselected.
Second Method
Another alternative suggested by dman is by using System Restore to restore the PC to a previous restore point that WGA Notifications hasn’t kicked in, and then carefully stop KB905474 from been applied to the system. To use System Restore, go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore.
Note: Again, you may be prompted again to install WGA Notification, so it must be bypassed.
Third Method updated
This method involves using a cracked version of LegitCheckControl.dll to replace the original copy of LegitCheckControl.dll, and thus bypass the WGA validation and make Microsoft believes that your copy of Windows is genuine. To get rid of WGA Notifications warning messages, the patched version of WgaLogon.dll and WgaTray.exe to replace the existing files.
To apply the patch by replacing the files manually, try to end the respective processes in the Task Manager before deleting the existing files. Most likely is you will have to restart your PC in Safe Mode in order to replacing the original copy of LegitCheckControl.dll and related files. However, there has been automatic updater and even cracked WGA installer that automatically apply the patched version of WGA files.
Latest Update for WGA version 1.5.708.0 latest
Download cracked and patched version of LegitCheckControl.dll with thanks to Danny.
Latest Update for WGA version 1.5.554.0 latest
Download cracked and patched version of LegitCheckControl.dll, WgaLogon.dll and WgaTray.exe for v1.5.554.0 of Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool and WGA Notifications.
