Here is the solution that will reset the count and allow your fully functional toner cartridge (the one the printer tells you is empty) to continue to work.

Open the front cover.
Press options button.
Press the start button.
Press + or up arrow button 10 times.
Press set button.

You have to do this with a long pause or the system will reset and you will have to start over.

Good luck.

This is awesome. I was given the info in solution #2 by the Brother company and when it didn't work, I was told I had to contact a Brother authorized service dept. who in turn wanted me to pay $42.50 just to look at it. They said they suspected that a sensor was out. I tried this procedure and it fixed it!!

This is from Brother's support page at http://www.brother-usa.com/FAQs/Solution.aspx?FAQID=200000006154&Sympt=Why+does+the+message+Toner+Life+End+continue+to+appear+on+the+LCD+after+I+replaced+the+toner+cartridge%3f&Model=23&ProductGroup=5&Keyword=toner&ProductID=DCP7020:

Description of Problem 100000005096
Why does the message "Toner Life End" continue to appear on the LCD after I replaced the toner cartridge?

Description of Solution 200000006154
Brother strongly recommends that customers use only genuine Brother drum units and/or toner cartridges. Each Brother laser printer is designed to work at pre-set temperatures that are matched exactly to each of our individual toner formulations. Each individual component is designed to work with the other to ensure quality and reliability. Using non-Brother supplies may affect the hardware performance, print quality and machine reliability. The Brother limited warranty does not apply to any problem that is caused by the use of third party drum units, toner cartridges or toner.

1. Did you replace the toner cartridge with a NEW, out of the box, genuine Brother TN350 toner cartridge? If no, you will need to purchase and install a new Brother TN350 toner cartridge.

If a toner cartridge from another machine was installed (even if there's still toner left in the used cartridge) or a TN Starter toner cartridge (included with the purchase of a machine) was installed, the message "Toner Life End" would continue to appear on the display. You will need to purchase and install a new Brother TN350 toner cartridge.

2. If you installed a new TN350 toner in an attempt to resolve the Toner Life End message, verify the toner cartridge is installed correctly by following the steps listed below:

a. Open the front cover.

b. Lift the drum unit slightly and pull it out. Place the drum unit on a drop cloth or large piece of disposable paper to avoid spilling and scattering the toner.

c. Remove the toner cartridge from the drum by holding down the lock lever (blue tab) on the left side of the drum unit and lift the toner out.

NOTE: Handle the toner cartridge carefully. If toner scatters on your hands or clothes, immediately wash it off with cold water.

d. Gently rock the toner cartridge from side to side five or six times to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge.

e. Place the toner cartridge into the drum (be sure it clicks into place).

f. Clean the primary corona wire inside the drum unit by gently sliding the blue tab on the top of the cartridge from right to left several times. Return the blue tab to the home position before reinstalling the drum unit assembly.

g. Reseat the drum unit into the machine.

h. Close the front cover.

If the problem continues and you installed a NEW, out of the box, genuine Brother TN350 toner cartridge, and your machine is within warranty, you can locate a Brother Authorized Service Center (ASC) in your area by clicking on the link below:
http://www.brother-usa.com/service/default.aspx or contact Brother Customer Service by calling 1-877-Brother (1-877-276-8437) Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

If your machine is out of warranty, you can locate a Brother Authorized Service Center using the information listed above

SOURCE: MFC-7840w keeps saying "toner life end"

After I figured this out, it was quite easy to resolve. Remove the toner cartridge from the drum cartridge. Remove the black plastic cover on the left side of the toner cartridge (3 Phillips screws). There is a "flag", which is a small plastic tab on the outer side set to the right at about 2 o'clock. Turn the gears until you fully reset the tab going counterclockwise to the 10 o'clock position (fully to the left). Reinstall the small black cover and the three phillips screws. And the idea to install black electrical tape over the small clear plastic windows on both sides is also a good idea to prevent the early and false message that the cartridge is empty. Make sure you do not allow that tape to get into the gears.

SOURCE: Printer will acknowledge only 3 of 4 new ink cartridges - keeps saying change LC51M

doesn't LC51M refer to Magenta(red) not Cyan(blue). on my J435W the colors goes as follows: BK Y C M LC71 Series cartridges. Maybe you have them switched around? just a thought.

It say drum end soon and i dont know what this means as i put a new ink cartridge in it and it still keeps coming up the same.

Your unit obviously has a separate drum and toner.
Changing the toner, doesn't change the drum.
You will need to change the drum soon.

Keeps saying install c

Hello,

When the printer says "install C" it is referring to the Cyan (blue) ink cartridge. If this is not a new cartridge, you might have to replace it. If this is a new cartridge, try following these steps.

1. Unplug the power cable.
2. Remove all 4 ink cartridges.
3. Close the ink cover
4. Plug the power back in.
5. Wait for the machine to warm up and tell you that the ink is empty.
6. Reinsert all 4 ink cartridges.

If you keep getting the same message you should try another cartridge. You can put the yellow cartridge in the blue spot to see if you get the same message. If you get the same message then the machine is broken. If you get a new message then the cyan cartridge needs to be changed.

Thanks,

Pat

My Epson rx595 keeps saying replace ink cartridges B78/77 which i have and then it is also saying that it cannot recognize ink cartridge B78/77 I have loaded 3 brand new cartridges in thus far and it keeps...

This is the only advice I can give you.

The next step would be to disassemble the Epson, and clean the Pads/Heads. Click on link below.:

I located a page on http://www.fixyourownprinter.com forum, which had plenty of details about similar issues.

on your cartridges there is a chip that detects if the ink is low. The chip on your yellow cartridge is bad. You should return the cartridge for a new one(if you still have your receipt) or visit a Cartridge World in your area and they can put a new chip on for you

Epson Stylus CX3810 replace ink box. will not let me print.

I'm sorry to say, but I just spoke to epson and the printer will not print unless all cartridges have ink. The black ink only option is only used to extend the life of color cartriges. Just another way for them to get you to buy things you don't need.
