DVD Player will no longer turn on. If I leave it unplugged for 20 minutes it will sometimes turn on - but just long enough to eject the DVD. The husband is pretty handy, so if someone knows what it is, he could take it apart and fix it. We really don't want to buy another one. No problems otherwise - played great for many years. Thank you for your help!

Hi, For some reason the disk will not play. You push the eject button over and over again, but the disk slot will not open. Here's one solution... * 1 Turn off the DVD player. Wait a few minutes, turn the DVD player back on, and then press the "eject" button. If this does not work, turn it off and unplug the DVD player...while you keep pushing EJECT button plug the DVD and turn it on (your hand still on the eject..) is should come out.. * 2 ..if it does not eject , unplug the DVD player again, Remove the screws off DVD on the sides and take off the DVD casing. * 3 Look for the DVD holder inside the DVD player. This device holds the DVD in place while the DVD player reads the disk. * 4 Push the stuck DVD disk toward the front of the DVD player until the DVD ejects. Remember the DVD player is not on and some force ( gentle ! ) must be applied. * 5 While it is open, plug it on and place a DVD disc just to see if mechanism works properly.. * 6 Replace the casing and the screws. Plug the player in and turn it on. Put another DVD in to test whether the player is finally working .. Hope this helps!.. hey, have you tried to unplug the dvd player for a while, also hold down the eject button on the player, if there is a small hole in the tray use a needle or other small object to eject the tray,
There's a few things you can try. Turn off unit, unplug from AC for 5 minutes or so, plug back in, turn unit on, hit eject/open. OR..same as above, but hold the eject/open button, then turn unit on.
Sometimes a combination of these odd procedures actually work. Sometimes holding the stop button, and hitting eject/open works too. Hope this is helpful.
First, start with power cycling the player. Turn off the player and disconnect the power cord from the wall socket. Leave it unplug for about 5 minutes. Turn the player back on and try to open the drawer.
If same problem occur, then follow the steps below:
1. Turn off your DVD player. You do not want to risk electrical shock while working with it.
2. Locate your DVD player's manual Eject button. It is usually a small hole located underneath the DVD drawer.
3. Insert a stiff wire-such as a paperclip or safety pin-into the hole. Push gently and the drawer should open partway. Gently pull the drawer the rest of the way open.
4. Remove the DVD and see if there is a problem with it. Most DVD player drawers get stuck when a DVD is warped or the label is starting to peel. If the DVD is warped, discard it. If the label is peeling, remove the label.
5. Turn your DVD player back on. If it gets stuck again on a different DVD, then the problem may be with your DVD player rather than with your DVDs.
Unplugging the power chord to unit for sometime (around 20 - 30 minutes) and plug back the power chord . After that press the eject button for 30 seconds at times this may work and you can get back the dvd from the player .
The LCD/DVD may need a reset. Unplug the unit for 10 sec then plug back in. Instead of power button, push eject button. The blue DVD screen should appear. This worked on my unit which I had for only 2 months. If not call customer service.
