I have the same problem with my LQ-300-II, and all the settings in printer properties are ok, but still the paper goes 1 inch more than the desired paper length

make sure the page setup in the program that you are using is the same size as the paper.

SOURCE: My Artisan 800 only prints

My Artisan 800 was doing this and I realized it was because I was using three hole punched paper. I think the printer sees the top hole and thinks the paper has run out and cancels the rest of the page. Big engineering goof Epson.

5x7 inch paper moves towards end of print and black ink smudges edge of paper

Check for any small paper jam. Check the rollers, also use an alcohol swab to clean the rollers and check for ink leaking. Check you ink pad, it could be time for a new one.

Ghost printing

Hello,

You have a worn image drum. The drum is the part of the printer that the print image is created on before it transfers the toner to the paper. This part is coated with a very thin layer of Teflon so the toner does not stick. When it gets worn the toner starts to stick and that produces the shadow or ghost image approximately 3 inches down the page because the diameter of the drum roller is 3 inches. You will need to get the part DR-350, Office Depot has them as well as many places on the internet.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Printing problem

You will need to clean cartridges and printer head with cotton swab and rubbing alcohol. Some printers have a self-cleaning diagnostic setting on them.
After thourough cleaning, print test page and use alignment if necessary.

Qms 2200 paper mismatch error

Initial Thoughts
The problem seems to be a fault in a paper feed sensor. This would explain the size mismatch, since these sensors are how the printer detects the paper size. And, it would explain why printing starts two-thirds down the page, since these sensors are also used in timing where on the page to start printing.

However, a document passes through three software applications before it actually prints. And, any one of them could be causing the paper size mismatch.

Insight
Although paper sensors are usually low-tech and easy to remedy, they are often difficult to find and can sometimes be difficult to get to. Most such sensors are simple switches (toggles) and others are optical sensors that work like the electric eye of a garage door opening system. And, the solution may be as simple as a tiny piece of paper stuck on one of them. However, sensors such as these are quite numerous on this printer and can be hidden anywhere.

The three software applications I referred to are:

1. The document rendering application, such as Adobe Reader, Microsoft Word, etc.

2. The print writer. This is part of the device driver software package. It breaks up a print request and converts it to a standard format that the printer will always recognize and manages transmission of each page to the system spooler or directly to the printer.

3. The printer firmware. I'm not sure of everything this does related to the print stream. But, part of it must manage resources, such as ensuring the right size paper is being fed.

How to change paper size on axerox phaser 8500

From a Windows Operating System:
  1. From the computer, open the document to be printed within an application program.
  2. Click on [File] on the toolbar, and then click [Print]. The Print window will be displayed.
  3. Click on the [Properties] button, or the [Printing Preferences] button. The Properties or Printing Preferences window will be displayed.
  4. Click on the [Paper / Quality] tab.

NOTE: Most applications will automatically provide the page size information to the driver. If not, steps 8 - 10 describe how to create a custom page size.

  5. Select the required paper size from the Document Size pull down menu, if available.
  6. If the required custom paper size is not available click on the [My Customer Sizes…] button.
  7. To create a new custom paper size setting click on the [New] button.
  8. In the Name field enter the name to be given to the custom paper size. For example 127 mm x 394 mm (5 in. x 10 in.)
  9. In the Width field enter the width of the custom paper size.

NOTE: The width should always be the short edge of the paper. For example, if the custom size is 127 mm by 394 mm (5 inches by 10 inches), the width must be set to 127 mm (5 inches) regardless of the orientation of the document or the feed method on the printer.

  10. In the Height field enter the height of the custom paper size.

NOTE: The height should always be the long edge of the paper. For example, if the custom size is 127 mm by 394 mm (5 inches by 10 inches), the height must be set to 394 mm (10 inches) regardless of the orientation of the document or the feed method on the printer.

  11. Click on [Save]
  12. Click on [Close].
  13. Select the required paper size from the Document Size pull down menu.
  14. Click on [OK] twice to print
From a Mac OSx:
  1. Click on [File] on the application toolbar, and then click on [Page Setup]. The Page Setup window will be displayed.
  2. From the Printer Description pull-down menu, select the correct PPD file for your printer.
  3. Select the custom paper size for your document from the Paper Size pull-down menu.
  4. If the required custom paper size is not available click on the [Manage Custom Sizes…]. The Custom Page Sizes window will be displayed
  5. To create a new custom paper size setting click on the [+] button.
  6. Double click on [Untitled] and enter the name to be given to the custom paper size.
