I'd recommend purchasing a new power supply.
Your Dell Dimension 5100 comes stock with a 305W power supply. This is a bare-minimum wattage that will only handle what they ship on the system & not much more. You're better off upgrading the power supply with a compatible after-market model.
You can go to a PC parts store in your area and take your chances...but they're usually more expensive then Internet sources (they've got to pay for their brick-n-mortar store overhead).

This particular site offers $8 Flat-rate shipping & a 1 year warranty. Your power supply is only $49.99 - you might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere, but that's the best I could find with a quick Google search.
