I have a HP Laser Jet 1020, and i have had printer for about 1yr with no problems. And all of sudden today when i try to print something its printing out all gray and black pages. No letter appear it looks like gray fuzzies all over the page from top to bottom. Changed my ink cartridge and is still doing it. Thanks Tawny [email protected]

Most cases on that machine it's the transfer roller that does that at 75mm, but could also be drum cartridge or fuser. Use a flashlight and inspect the fuser, shouldn't be toner or image on fuser rollers, If you unplug the machine when the print is in the middle, you can tell if it's before or after the fuser, and after the drum.
i have HP Laser Jet 1020 Printer but its not that problem occur, your problem is print starts again when it restart... This problem is commonly recognized if your printer software are not installed properly. Reinstall your printer by that HP Printer Disc Utility. Good luck!
My friend had the same problem. A small sliver of paper was blocking one of the contacts where the cartridge connects with the printer. Removed it and voila!
