Apple Macbook Pro does not connect to wireless network

Macbook only connects to wireless router on maximal reception. If reception is less than maximal, no connection is made. Message "None of your preferred networks available" appears. In the list of "other" networks, exactly my network is listed and WPA code requested. After entering WPA code "connection timeout" appears, no connection made. Everything works well, as long as I sit next to the router and there is maximal reception. Windows XP notebook and Vista Desktop PC connect well, even with low reception. Router: Netgear 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL2 +cModem Router DG834GU v5 Wireless card: AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x8D)

The antennas in the Macbook Pros have had an issue with reception due to the aluminum housing of the laptop but, should still receive decent reception just not as much as a plastic Macbook or plastic PC laptop. It could be possible that the antenna's cables have become disconnected from the Airport Extreme card inside your Macbook Pro, that the card itself is faulty or damaged or that the Antennas themselves have been damaged in some way. As always make sure you have the latest updates and have installed any driver updates from Apple regarding your Airport Extreme card. Here's an article that may help eliminate any wireless interference that may be affecting your signal strength. Apple - Wireless Interference hope this helps, if so don't forget to comment, vote, etc. Thank you.

Welcome to Fixya

You dont need a CD or driver to connect to time capsule. All you need to do is to have you MACbook detect the Time capsuple. Open AirPort Utility, select Time Capsule, and click Continue. Enter the password of the time capsule if incase you secured the router.

My Samsung Blue Ray Disc player with a Samsung WIS09ABGN LAN adapter won't connect with my Apple Express WiFi and MacBook Pro. How do I make it work?

This disc player is get an IP address.
1) If connected to MacBook Pro with an ethernet cable, it will get an IP address something like 169.254.xx.xx but it will communicate with the laptop

2) If connected the Blu-ray disc player using Apple Express, you need to create an Ad-Hoc wireless network to share media and stream it.

**But ensure that the in-built firewall on a MAC is completely turned OFF or else it should be properly configured.

My new macbook white does not configure.

Can you connect hardwired?
If so, try selecting "Software Update" from under the Apple in the upper Left hand corner. There have been a number of updates that effect wireless connectivity.

Additionally try repairing permissions Application / Utilities / Disk Utility

Macbook airport

you should try a software update first along with a PRAM and SMC update (hold the power button down when the computer is off for 15 seconds-it will beep. immediately after that hold down the Apple, option, P and R keys simultaneously until the computer reboots and chimes 3 times)
