Electrical noise My fridge is just over a year old. About 1 month ago I noticed a hissing noise. When I opened the door the noise was louder and noticed air escaping from the inside plastic molded surface where joined, causing this loud whistling. When I put pressure on this, it stops. Then we noticed shortly after that the motor/compressor makes a funny noise, like it is trying to start then shuts off...this happens throughout the day and night. It attemps this cycle for about 3-5mins. Unfortunatly we bought this from a big box store (future shop). No help there!

If the noise from the compressor sounds like a humming followed by a click, the compressor is "short cycling". Could be either the compressor relay or the compressor itself is bad. Not sure on the hissing noise. Could be just a loose panel that needs to be tightened or adjusted.

Fridge/ice maker not cooling but lights on and fan is running. How to check if it can be repaired or not?

Unless you tell us what the unit is doing and not doing you might as well just go out and pound some salt!

The water dispenser is not putting out water and ice maker is not making ice. The fridge frequently cycles like it is trying to send out water.

it's still under warranty for up to 1 year, call whoever you bought it from and it should be repaired free of charge and next time you write send model number.

Furnace unit to be louder now than last season

Check your air filter, make sure all registers are open full and there is no restriction in all ducts. Could be an unbalanced fan, clean the squirll cage fan with a brush and vacuum.

We have a 4 year old GE fridge that is ticking like a clock but louder. the model number is GBS20HBSBWW

If the inside fan does not come one, suggestions are "bad mother board", possibly a free replacement from GE, that otherwise is $300+.

Maytag side by side fridge makes vibration noise

Mine is a different model, and less than three years old, but the vibrating noise was really annoying. I would shift the unit or the door slightly, and it would stop for a while, as you reported. I took a few minutes, applied pressure to different areas, up and down, inside and out. The noise was louder near the floor. I removed the plastic grill and applied upward pressure on the wires covering the coils - it was loose. I noticed an accumulation of dust, and vacuumed as far as I could reach around the underneath area; also pulled fridge out and vacuumed a dust-covered vent on the back near the floor. Was planning to insert some kind of wedge under the loose part, but when I put everything back in place, the vibration stopped - now I only hear a gentle hum. Seems I did something right in this process.

Fridge not cold

You either have a bad compressor or a bad compressor relay. As Todd, the other tech said, you need to find an authorized service provider if it is less than one year. They will fix it for free.

Loud noise from the freezer side

The problem is a buildup of ice on the plastic housing (the curved plastic bit) in the back of the freezer under the fixed shelf where the icetub goes. The fan behind this plastic housing is hitting the ice when the defrost comes on.

Unplug the fridge, unpack the freezer, remove the four screws in the back, take off the sheetmetal backing and let the fridge thaw. You can remove the plastic piece after a while and get the ice off (be careful not to remove the styrofoam insulation by going too quickly).

Reassemble and you're back in business, for a few months. I'm never buying Samsung again myself.
