We have Quickbooks Pro 2009 and now went to sign in this morning and it keeps giving us an error code (-6000, -1076). I have tried to google the code but NOTHING comes up ...... nothing!?!? Please help! We can not get into QB at all. The sign in screen does not even come up either. Just click on QB goes the menu to choose your quickbooks we click on our files then goes stright to error code.
Run the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool to fix common install issues.
Open the QuickBooks Tool Hub, then select Installation Issues.
Select QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool. ...
When the tool finishes, restart your computer and start QuickBooks Desktop, then open your data file.

Will

SOURCE: Quickbooks error ~~ transfering files from 2003 to 2009
There may be more than one issue going on here. In some cases, going to a version that is several versions later requires a stepped upgrade. 2003 to 2004, 2004 to 2006, then to 2009. There may also be data damage existing in the 2003 file that will prevent an upgrade, until it is resolved in 2003.
Intuit used to have a policy that it would have you send in a copy of the data file and would convert it for free if you were going to the latest version.
If you are still unable to resolve this, let me know.

Have you tried repairing your programs in the control panel Add/delete programs window? You might need to have your disk handy in case it prompts you for it.
SOURCE: Upgrading from Quickbooks Pro 2003 to Quickbooks 2009
I would not open up the company file in 2009. Open your 2003 Quickbooks, make a backup and then restore the back up in 2009. If you do run into problems you might want to upgrade into 2006 and then to 2009. (you will need to find someone who can do this for you if you don't have a 2006 version. I can help you with that if you need it

There has been an issue similar to this seen with people whose windows xp recieved service pack 3, or vista service pack 1.
From what I understand, microsoft has pulled the updates due to issues with their own products. If your system has recieved the service pack, contact MS Tech support to have the service pack update removed.
SOURCE: QB needs a validation code
Quickbooks comes with both License number and Validation Codes, I would look carefully at the sticker that they provide for both. You can also contact QB directly, and give them the license number and they will assit you in obtaining a validation code.
Good Luck
