Since upgrading firmware on my lg bd370 bluray player i can't play dvd's as it tells me to check the region code and then ejects the disc. How do i change the region code to region 4.

Sounds like your Blu Ray is region coded. You will need to region-free the player so it will play them all. Normally happens with PALS formatting. You need to update the firmware on the device via using an internet connection. Sounds like it's out of date.

You can make the LG BD370 player region free (e.g. region 0) by flashing a new 'custom' firmware: this will of course negate any warranty! This is for educational purposes only and the following forum talks about how to go about it and I therefore take no responsibality if you do decide to pursue the mods!!!

You could try to set you firmware to Region 0 (all countries) you can do this with the remote

Eject the disc tray, and while it's open hit 0 - 0 (two zeros) on the remote.

Then enter 0 for the region code (for all regions.)

i had the same trouble with my LG blu ray . you need to upgrade your software on your blu ray. if u email Phillips customer service and ask for the link to upgrade ( which is called firmware ) the u can download it and put it on a disc . once you put the disc in the player it will update for you, see how u go

Most copied DVD-Videos for home playback use a CSS crack to strip the region code i.e. to Region 0 to they will work in all DVD players.

However most standalone DVD Players can have this restriction lifted using a sequence of codes.

First check your current firmware version to see if you need to upgrade:

1. When TV shows Philips wallpaper, close disc tray with no disc.
2. Press <0>, <0>, <0>, <9>, <OK> on the Remote Control.
Note: In case the firmware version does not appear on the screen, eject and close the disc tray to reset, and try again.


In this case region is 2 (UK) and the firmware is “Feb 23 2007” this is the latest for this DVD VR.

There are other codes that can be used to set this DVD to region 0 it might be a good idea for you do to the same with yours.

Updated firmware last night (for the Bd370) and the main movie disc for Chronicles of Narnia: Lion,witch,wardrobe worked (after previously stalling). However, the bonus disc still doesn't work when I play it (just a blank screen). I traded the Blue-ray DVD from where I bought it for another one, and it made no difference. However, both Narnia discs played okay in the store on a Sharp blue-ray DVD/Tv combo.

Good news! It can be made to be region free. However it's not as simple as entering a code on the remote. You'll need to update the firmware on the player's chip. Read this forum to see how to do it. It's not hard but will take a little time to do,
