What does code f 20 mean

usually it's the water valve needs to be replaced, best thing is to remove the bottom panel, look for the diagnostics paper and put it back for future repairs, either taped to the bottom inside panel or look around inside cabinet usually on right hand side taped to right wall,it will tell you what the code is and look up how to put into diagnostics,if hot and cold water are coming in to slow or no water on hot or cold shut it down, unplug it,shut the water valve off going to washer, remove the water lines going to washer and mark them so hot goes back to hot and cold back to cold on the washer water valve.when you have the hoses off turn the house valve back on to make sure water is coming through both lines, the problem could be the house valve so you want to eliminate that.if good look into the washer valve,if you see alot of sedement in the screens change out the washer water valve,if all looks good on some machines there is a flow meter that could cause this code to come up,if water is coming in strong and screens look clean on water valve i would change the flow meter.go here and see your parts

one is valve 4 is flow meter hope this helps

My cold water doesn't work in my washing machine.

Troubleshoot: Some of this might be pretty obvious.. but it doesn't hurt to check them. Have bucket and some rags or towels available to catch water during the troubleshooting and test. Unplug any electrical connections
1) check to be sure the valve to the cold water hose is open.
reconnect and test, if not re solved.
Unplug any electrical connections
2) shut off the cold water valve and remove the hose to check that it is clear and 1) water flows through the valve and 2) that the hose works (ideally on another faucet connection.)
With the hose still removed, check to see if the connection point at the washer is clear & clean.
3) reconnect working hose to working faucet and to the clean & clear washer connection. plug it back in and turn the cold water valve back on and and retest.
If its not one of these external connection issuess, call a repairman.

It's likely some sediment was disturbed during the valve replacement and clogged a screen in the washer valve. Turn off the water and remove the cold hose from the back of the washer. Just inside the threads you'll find a fine screen that you'll want to remove and clean (flush with water). You might also find a screen in the hose washer on the supply valve end of the hose. Check for that too.

Kenmore eco cycle front load washer. error E70 displays and stops washer. What does E70 mean?

You should check the model number of the washer. If the model number starts 417, then the washer was made by Frigidaire. In that case, the E70 error indicates that cold water is not being detected at the washer inlet sensor.

In some cases, this could be due to connecting the hot water line to the cold water inlet (and the cold water to the hot water inlet). Make sure that the cold water shut-off valve is open. Try swapping the water hoses (close the shut-off valves first). Try new hoses; some anti-flood hoses will restrict the water flow if they detect damage. Thus you won't have sufficient water coming into the washer. (You can check this yourself. Turn off the shut-off valves. Disconnect the hoses from the washer and put the ends into a bucket. Then open the shut-off valves and check the water flow.) While you have the hoses off, check for debris in the inlet filters.

If the hoses are fine, you probably have a problem with the washer's inlet valve or the reed switch that measures incoming water. The inlet valve should be replaced if you find that only hot water enters the washer.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the model number of your washer for more information. It will be on the inside of the door opening (probably at the top).

Cold water supply very very slow

This is a result of a restriction in any one of several places. Start with the washer off / unplugged from the outlet and shut off the water supply that feeds the washer's water supply hoses. The hot a cold water valves (those that are turned off independently of each other) should require the same number of turns to shut off. If not - one is open more than the other and could be a cause for the slow fill. Unscrew the hot AND cold water hose connectors from the washer. Inspect the inside of the connector to ensure there is nothing obstructing the hose itself. Make sure the rubber washer is seated properly, too. Check the entire length of both hoses to be sure there are no kinks or evidence of crushing. Also look for stretched circumference hose that indicate it could breakat any time. Damaged hoses should be replaced promptly to minimize chances of flooding should a hose burst. Hold the ends of the hoses inside the wash machine in such a way that splashing is reduced. Open the water supply and determine if the flow of water is the same or different for the hot and cold water. If the same, the problem is at / in the washer. If unequal flows are detected (with both valves opened the same amount) , the issue is probably with cold water supply or shut off valve. You'll probably have to call a plumber if the difference in flow bothers you that much.

If the flow is the same, it could be a problem with the water inlet or water supply solenoid inside the washer itself. Many washers have a strainer or filter inside the water supply connections. Check yours for foreign objects, debris or build up and clear any found.

Reassemble and and make sure connections are tight (do not use a wrench to tighten) enough to prevent leaking and turn of water supply. Operate the washer and compare cold and hot water flow while filling the tub. If still unequal, you'll have to either call for repair or look further for a restriction in the solenoid valve or deeper inside the machine if it bothers you that much or is painfully slow to fill.

I hope this helps and good luck. Please rate my reply - thanks!

Why doesn't cold water flow into the washer through the Smartwater filter? When my Maytag Performa's Wash/Rinse temperature dial is set on Cold/cold no water flows into the tub. But when I set it on...

Hi .. I would first check the supply valve at the washer to be sure that it is open. if it is open , you can check the flow by shutting it off, removing the supply hose, opening the valve slowly and observing the flow. You might need a small bucket here. If you have water flow here at the washer supply valve, then the problem is inside the washer control.

No water going in

Hello mariel_black,

If you have good water pressure at the washer source valves I would shut both the Hot and Cold water source supply valves off then remove the water inlet hoses at the back of the washer and inspect the water inlet screens for sediment blockage.
The washer inlet screens look like this;

cdb49e0.jpg

If the above items check OK reconnect washer supply hoses and turn on water supply valves. If we are talking about a FAV6800AW/FAV9800AW washer then I would go into Service Mode Board Output Test page 16 of the Service Manual and turn on the Hot and Cold water valves and see if the machine water inlet solenoids operate and release water into the wash tub. I will summarize how to get into Service Mode and perform the check of the Hot/Cold washer inlet solenoids.

Enter the Service Mode by pressing and holding the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or the display reads “00”

Press the Delicates key the display will read something like “ot” the lid will lock. Now press Spin Only key this will turn on the cold water valve, do you here water flow into the washer? Press the Spin Only key to shut the cold water valve off.

Now press Normal key, do you here water flow into the washer? Press the Normal key to shut the valve off or the off key to get out of Service Mode. If you don’t hear either Hot/Cold water inlet valve operate then you have a bad solenoid or loss of 120VAC applied to that solenoid valve and more troubleshooting may need to take place and possible replacement of the washer water inlet valve assembly. Post back if you have questions.

Washer- Hot water wont stop flowing

you will have to replace the multi valve inside the washer where the lines come in, not too hard if you can use tools and find all the hold own bolts/ screws. the part can be a little pricey so you may want to take it to a repair shop. make sure that you UNPLUG first!

Water in my washing machine

it sounds like you have a leaking water valve, you will have to replace the mixing valve, For now turn the water off at the wall suppling water to the machine. When you want to use the washer turn on water, when its done with the cycle turn the water off.

Note: unplugging the machine will not stop the water from running
