My player has just having trouble "reading the disk" and then when it does it will freeze while playing - the freezing gets worse the second half of the movie. It will first freeze for a sec. or 2 and then start playing. Over time it freezes for longer and longer and then will not restart. Any suggestions? Does this with multiple Disks.

Wii noises are usually due to either a faulty fan or disk drive. Either one can cause the Wii to freeze up as a faulty fan can cause overheating and a faulty disk drive can slow disk reading down to where it freezes waiting for the data from the drive. It should be serviced or replaced.
That particular unit is very sensitive to scratched or dirty disks. Remove the disk and make sure there are no finger prints, peanut butter & jelly, or popcorn butter stains on the back side. If there is, gently wash the disk under warm water with a DROP of mild dish detergent, being careful not to scratch the surface. Rinse the disk well and dry with a soft, lint free cloth (like an old cotton t-shirt) again being careful to avoid scratching the disk. Replace the disk and play.
If the disk is scratched, there is little hope of fixing the scratch so the unit can read it.....
If these disks are copyed DVD your player may not be able to read them the right way! Try them on another player to see if its the dvds or the player! (all Players do not read all dvd types)
The microprocessor or memory componets on the player isnt functioning asits supposed too. This is rather troubling and there isnt any easy fixes possible.. My suggestion is seeing as its new return it and get a replacement. Chances are it will fail very soon.
The last problem is probably because you have not ?finalized? the DVD yet. Basically what that does is modify how the data is stored on the DVD so that a normal DVD player can read it. It also prevents you from modifying or recording to the disk any more so make sure you?re done before performing this.
The part about the freezing is more complex, are these commercially recorded DVDs or something someone else recorded?
