C1 occures when there is a spike of 25 amps or more on the motor windings. This can be caused by overloading, the drive motor itself or the motor controller. You need to do some tests on the motor windings to see if they are in spec. Easiest way is on the board. Using a putty knife, slide it under each end of the consol and press on the spring. Push up on the consol while pushing in. The consol will lift up. The motor contoller board is on the left. The P6 harness is in the center. With the washer unplugged, unplug the P6 harness. Measurements on the harness should read: From the red wire to white/black=3.1 ohms. From yellow to white/black=2.8 ohms. From red to yellow=5.9 ohms. Or if you want to read them direct at the motor. Remove the harness and at the motor, red to white=3.1, yellow to white=2.8, red to yellow=5.9. If you have a reading that is much higher than the posted a problem exists in the motor windings. If they check ok, then the problem is in the motor controller. It's up to you but I sure wouldn't put any money in this machine. It has been my experience that there is just too many failures on this model. Catriver.

Calypso washer starts runs for 2 min stops then starts then stops the starts and c1 flashes

The CI and CA error codes indicate that current (amp draw) limits for the drive motor were exceeded. Since you indicate that these codes were displayed even though the washer is not overloaded, it is likely that you have a problem with the motor, motor controller or the universal joint. An item stuck underneath the nut-ate plate or between the spin basket and the outer tube of the washer could also cause this problem.

My Whirlpool Calypso is flashing C1 when I try to start a load

Hello
C1/CI code indicates instantaneous current limit trip. This instantaneous current trip occurs if there is a spike of 26 Amps instantly at the motor windings. This may signify problems with the drive motor, thermal protector or motor controller. Overloading the unit may cause this problem. Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Calypso kenmore washing machine faulty spin cycle ''CA'' code

This code signifies that there may be a problem with the motor, thermal protector or motor controller. Overloading the appliance may cause such an error code. Try using a smaller load. If the code reappears, contact an appliance service company.

My kenmore elite calypso has a flashing code C1. What does this mean. Also, how can i get a manual for this washer, that explains all the codes.

C1 is not one of the normal codes. It's probably CI (upper i).
Stands for 'Instantaneous current' limit trip. Happens when there is a spike of 26 Amps intensity at the motor windings.
The manual states it may be a problem with the drive motor, thermal protector or motor controller.

check here for your stuff. make sure you put your exact model number in the box at the top. i used my machine (GVW9959KL1). absolutely awesome website and has very competitive prices, if not the best prices for parts. hope this helps.

Machine won't work it says C1 message. pls advice.

On Whirlpool Calypso washers that is probably not a "1" but is the letter i. The code "CI" is the fault code that indicates "Instantaneous Current Limit". Instantaneous current trip occurs if there is a spike of 26 amps instantly at the motor windings.

This may signify problems with the drive motor, thermal protector (fuse), or motor controller. Overloading the washer may cause this condition. Press stop/cancel to clear the display. Hope this helped you.

Error code c1 of ca

The C1 error is displayed when the motor tries to pull more than 26 amps to run.

This indicates a problem with the motor or motor controller.

Overloading or excessive suds can also cause this error.

If you like to make a few more checks then the image below contains the instructions for entering the diagnostic test mode.

Its a short cycle that runs all of the components so the operation of each can be checked.

I hope this helps but an intermittent C1 error can be hard to pin down.

From the service manual....

"C1 = Average current limit Or Instantaneous current limit.

If a status signal comes back from the motor controller that a current
limit has been breached, the unit will return to standby mode and
display either CA for average current limit trip or Cl for
instantaneous current limit trip.

Average current trip occurs if there is a 2 second average of current
draw greater than 5.55 amps
at the motor windings.

Instantaneous current trip occurs if there is a spike of 26 amps
instantly at the motor windings.

This may signify problems with the drive motor, thermal protector, or
motor controller. Over-loading the unit may cause this problem."

I have a whirlpool calypso washer and it is showing an error code of C1, what does this mean and how do I fix it

CI (an "i", not a "one") and OB are related - overloaded, the washer's motor controller will draw too much current and either the average current will peak ("CA" error) or the instantaneous current will spike ("CI" error). OB - out of balance - indicates of course a load that is not balanced, or is too heavy. Wash less items and see if the problems lessen. That is what we have had to start doing, but we still can wash a BUNCH of items in this type washer!

C1 error code

CL code stands for overloaded motor. Motor is drawing to many amps and cuts out. I suspect a failing motor or something binding that causes the motor to draw to many amps. Don't know how to fix it.
