Hi my samsung 42" rear projection 1080i tv won,t switch on from stand by. it makes a high pitch whistle noise when i press a tv station button on the remote that lasts for about 10 seconds then the standby light starts to flash. help.

TAKE THE AC ADAPTER APART. LOOK AT WHERE THE MANUFACTURER PUT HIS GLUE AND REDO IT CLEAR NIAL POLISH WORKS BETTER IT FLOWS UNDER THE PARTS BETTER. YOU CAN PLUG IT ALL IN WHEN ITS APART BUT MAKE SURE NOTHING CAN SHORT OUT. THIS WAY YOU CAN PINPOINT WHERE THE NOISE IS COMING FROM. OTHERWISE GLUE THE TRANSFORMER AND ANY SMALL FERRITE BEADS THESE SWITCHED MODE POWER SUPPLIES OPERATE AT HIGH FREQUENCIES AND LOOS PARTS CAN VIBRATE CAUSING THIS NOISE.
