Can not transfer pics from the camera ( coolprix L16) to laptop.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

When I try to open the content (inorder to transfer files from internal memory to my pc) it says invalid access to memory. Why? And what is the solution?

while the camera is connected to the computer does it show up in My Computer? If it does then you can go into the folders and get your pictures and copy and past them where you want them.

And as you have Vista it is like not compatable anyway.
Remove the software and simply plug the camera in
Windows will recoginise it as an extra drive in 'My Computer.
