Admiral Washer smells like mildew

My clothes smell like mildew, is my washer not draining all the way leaving water sitting to smell like mildew? How high should the drain pipe be for outlet? Would it being to high make the washer not drain completely?

Yes it could . If you are trying to pump the water 7 feet or more above the floor then it will at the end of the cycle get air into the drain hose causing cavatation, the result when the machines stops is the water running back down the drain hose back into the tub and that is what causes the musty smell.
Lower the drain if possible

You can try cleaning the tub with vinegar and baking soda.
To clean the tub:
This should be done every three months. Set the washing machine on hot, and if there's a setting for extra dirty clothes, choose that. Let the tub fill with water, then add 3 cups of white distilled vinegar and a 1/2 cup of baking soda. When the tub begins to drain, advance the cycle to spin. After the cycle ends, set the washing machine to cold and run another cycle.
Good Luck.

There is water left under the tub after the wash is over. When I move the tub I can hear the water sloshing. How can I get rid of the water. It makes my towels smell like mildew.

If it is draining down and spinning the clothes dry then all of the water is draining out. There is only about a 1/2 in space under the tub. There is a balance ring around the top of the tube that holds water. That may be the sound you are hearing? Try washing a load without anything in it on hot and use a box of baking soda. See if that will help with the smell. My washer leaves a mildew smell sometimes. I started running an extra rinse cycle on it. And that helped. I think it was my water.

Awful smell! I drain it every cycle, I use the washer cleaner, everything! I am so sick of my towels smelling awful.

Sounds like the little flexible apron just in front of your washer drum has mildewed. Take a look and see if it is holding water, and look for mold while your'e at it. Use a good bathroom mold and mildew remover to kill the mess and deodorize it.

Try running the washer with detergent and a box of baking soda--no clothes--and HOT water. Do you have very hard water in your area?

My expensive lg washer makes my cloths smell

Water is staying in the drum because it does not have the ability to pump put all the water. The only fix to this is after every cycle, take the little drain hose located near the bottom of the unit where you have to remove the cover, and take out the plug and drain into a small trash can. You will get about 4 cups water out of the machine. If this water is left overnight, it starts to mildew and will be washed over your next load. It's a design flaw, but this is the only solution. And one other suggestion, after you are finished washing clothes for the day and after you've drained out the remaining water, leave the door open overnight for the moisture in the unit to dry out.

My clothes smell like mildew

Run a load of wash water with chlorine bleach ***Without adding clothes***. This will kill any spores in the system. Try to remove laundry as soon as it is finished and don't let it sit in the washer overnight. If possible, keep the door open when not in use.

LG washing machine has AWFUL mildew smell

Don't know if this is the same as your problem, but I had a Kenmore washer, (made by Whirlpool) that did the same thing. It was a high efficiency model without an agitator. I finally found out that this type of washer never drains completely but always has some water left in it. This water is somewhere internal that cannot be seen unless the machine is taken apart. That water goes bad and stinks. Everything smelled like mildew and for some while my husband thought I was was washing clothes and leaving them in until they dried. I ended up having to just buy a new machine and when the stinky washer was taken away, just tilting it caused all this foul water to come out everywhere. Also I found this on the internet http://www.consumeraffairs.com/homeowners/lg_washing_machine.html
scroll down and see how other people feel about this machine. I decided that instead of buying the newest, latest, greatest, with all the bells and whistles appliances, from now on I will buy the time tested, plain jane models.

Smell in washer

Vinegar will fix this! Try pouring a quart of white vinegar into the washer, then run a cycle with no clothing in the washer. When the rinse cycle begins, stop the washer. Let it sit for about 30 minutes, then complete the cycle. That should do it! Afterwards, be sure to leave the door open to air dry it.

Mildew smell

water may not be draining completely out cause something is stuck in drainage area.

Other posts tell how to remove the top of washer to look between white outer tub and inner wash tub for sock or something else that is lodged.

Look at my post on "eco smart won't drain, smells hot" for instructions on removing the black motor/white plastic housing from bottom of washer. I had a sock stuck in the very lowest part of the drainage system, water wouldn't drain out and couldn't see the sock until I removed the motor. I was able to pull the sock through the quarter-sized hole in bottom of tub and drain the remaining very stinky water. I used a dog dish (need a low edge bowl to fit under washer), tipped washer forward, then back and just kept emptying the dish.

Saw another post said don't tip washer back. There is something on backside of washer that you could break if you tip backwards. So, if you tip forward i guess you won't break anything--i haven't...yet.

Noticed a musty smell lately, and also had gray streaks on my clothes. Think the standing water that wouldnt' drain out has been my issue for some time now and when the motor burned out, I finally had to research the other issues.
