Question about JVC HD-61Z575 61" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
We just bought the new aquos and hooked up the hdtv, but now in most of the HD channels closed captions show up and we don't know how to get rid of them. We tried pressing the cc button like the manual said, but it isn't the same in a different input. We want to take the subtiles off. How can we turn off the closed caption in input 1 (component)?
Had this happen on a Comcast box (Motorola DCT 6416 III)
Here's how to fix it:
Turn the cable box off, leave fully connected. Press Menu on the remote
The cable box internal menu will display (Not the Comcast one the Motorola one-- i.e. Display ratios-16:9 etc It's in black and white)
Use the arrows to cursor to the Closed Captioning and toggle to "Disabled" Press Manu again to exit and Voila!
Power the box on an have at it

Turn off the DVR, once you do hit menu button on your remote control and it should bring you to the page where you can enable or disable your cc

I had the same problem. Turns out that the Comcast DVR has the option that overrides the sets settings.
I just got the DVR manual & read it, I saw where with the TV on/ DVR off, hit menu & you'll get the overide settings menu. Once CC is on, many different option of how they are displayed becomes active.

OK, it a Comcast problem. I talked to Panasonic regarding CC on hd channels only. I took the cable from the box and hooked it directly up to the TV. There is no CC on HD!!!!! Yeah!!! Therefore, it is a comcast problem. I have not been able to contact them yet, but at least we know where to go. THAT was very annoying.

The closed caption has nothing to do w/ your cable provider. It's enabled through equiptment, wether it be your equiptment or the cable companies. Simply accessing the set up menu and switching that option to off will solve your problem. In the Comcast boxes you must power them off then access the start up menu.
