My Nikon Coolpix S3000 will not take a charge. It is dead as a door knob. The camera isn't even 60 days old and has been barely used. What's the fix? Is there one? Do I need to send it back to Nikon?

Battery life nikon coolpix s3000

If the rechargeable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

Nikon S3000 dosent turn on

Have you updated the firmware? According to Nikon, when the Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL10 is inserted in the camera and charged, charging sometimes did not stop after the designated amount of time had passed. Usually, you'll receive the message "Battery Exhausted" if this is the problem... but you could also have a completely dead camera as well.

See Nikon's website, download updated firmware to your camera and install a NEW battery. http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16873

I have a brand new Nikon coolpix s3000. This is my first time attempting to uplaod the pictures to my computer. My camera has been saying that the battery is exhausted all day, so i figured if i plugged it...

Your camera came with a separate battery charger, didn't it? Plugging a camera with a dead battery into a computer won't get you very far. Charge the battery first.

How do you charge a nikon coolpix s3000?

It comes with a wall jack that powers the included USB cable. Plug the USB cable into the wall jack and into the camera to charge. You can also charge from a PC if you connect the USB cable to the PC instead of the wall jack.

Hi My digital camera the Nikon coolpix s3000 kept flashing batter exhausted but it wont charge by the computer. How do i fix or charge my camera?

Not all computer USB ports put out enough current to charge batteries, especially if you're going through a hub. Try a different USB port if one is available. Otherwise, plug the supplied AC charger into a wall outlet and use that.
