Our Kenmore Coldspot is not making ice in the ice maker in the upper part/freezer section. I checked the flow to the frig and it was okay. I have played with the arm on the maker. No luck -

There are several causes of no ice maker operation. First, is the freezer cold enough? It must be below 32F to operate the icemaker. 2nd: Is the bale or metal rod that runs along the side of the ice maker in the down position? 3rd: You may have a failed water solenoid valve, located on the back of the unit. The plastic or copper water line from your house's water supply is attached to this valve.
Make suer the freezer temp is 5 degrees or lower. If not the ice maker will not operate. Also make sure that you have water pressure at the back of the fridge. If so, you most likely have a bad water valve. It is what your water supply connects to. You can test it like this. Disconect the water line on the fridge side of the valve. Unplug the wires from the valve. Supply 110v to the plug. If water comes out from where you disconected the line, the valv is good. If not, you will need to replace it. Hello. You will need to replace the icemaker. The swicth in the head is causing the arm to stay up and is not repairable. If you can get me the model number I can get you the part number.
Give it at least 24 hours to get started. May need to turn freezer colder also.Make sure Arm on ice maker is not locked in up position. I don't know what jump means. If it has been in frig for a long period with out water but still going through the motions there could be other problems. But if it was just hooked up give it time to get going.
