Hi Guys, here's my problem - How to lower the whisk on a KitchenAid KSM90? My whisk is not close enough to the bowl. Thanks so much, Helen

Put water in Kenwood and a bowl inside the Kenwood to hold eggs. Eggs need to be done SLOWLY. Can also add a LITTLE water to aggs as they cook to slow down curdling . Basically you need to turn Kenwood into a double boiler. Lift bowl with eggs in and out of Kenwood to control temperature and whisk away now under control. Lift bowl and cool and slow down cooking and lower back in water and Kenwood to hear back up. Keep whisking and lift and lower bowl as needed. Some melted butter doesn't hurt either!

this might help... the whisk has a slightly larger whole then the other attachments. it is also inset. there is a washer that holds the spring on. if that is slightly off or bent it won't sit in the Whisks inset right. look a little closer to that and the spring. if there happened to be dried on food that could be the slight difference that can prevent it from staying one. Hi, JAKELEGJEETE, You don’t say if you have a ‘tilt-head’ or a ‘bowl-lift' mixer, but you can easily download a PDF version of your Owners Manual from the KA website at: (http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home).
Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals& Guides> and enter the 6 character model number (in your case, use KSM5PS)and select the last file listed that appear under Owners Manuals: and save that file to your PC. You’ll need to have Adobe Reader to be able to open it. Turn to Page 11 and you will find the instructions for adjusting the Beater to Bowl Clearance. I have extracted the instructions below:
Beater to Bowl Clearance
Your mixer is adjusted at the factory so that the flat beater just clears the bottom of the bowl. If for any reason, the flat beater hits the bottom of the bowl or is too far away from the bowl, clearance.
Tilt-Head models
• Unplug mixer.
• Lift motor head.

• Turn screw (A) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to raise flat beater or clockwise (right) to lower flat beater.
• Make adjustment with flat beater, so it just clears surface of bowl.
If you over adjust the screw, the bowl lock lever may not lock into place.

Bowl-Lift models
• Unplug mixer.
• Place bowl lift handle in down position.

• Turn screw (B) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to raise flat beater and clockwise (right) to lower flat beater.
•Make adjustments with flat beater, so it just clears surface of bowl.
If you find the adjustment screw missing, you’ll need to replace it. But now you’ll need

Look under base for any gearing. Usually the momentum of the beaters will turn the bowl.

Hi. You don't need the perfect screwdriver to make the adjustment. Please note: The adjustment screw only turns a half turn in either direction. Turn this screw all the way to the right (clockwise). Do not attempt this with the motor running. Start and stop the mixer between small adjustments (counterclockwise) until you're happy with the results.. ok firstly if you have a stand mixer with the lift bowl you have to put a dime on the side of the bowl at the base and see how much clearence is needed to be taken away. if the dime gets moved the mixer is ok. if not take off the flat beater, take out the bowl, and look at the back of the stand. just below the motor about 2 inches you will see a screw. turn it to the left a quarter of a turn. dont over adjust do it slowly. if you have the one that you tilt the head back on do the same thing with the screw up to you get to the adjusting part. the screw will be in a different spot on those mixers. it is located in the neck of the mixer. it is right in the area that tilts back. the dime shouldnt fly around the bowl it should just gently get tapped. and never use the wisk when adjusting always use the flat attachment. and always adjust slowly never over adjust.

OK,Where the mixer pivots there is an ajustment screw ( Flat head). Place a dime at the bottom of the bowl and make your adjustment carefully ( quarter turn at a time).Using the low speed only, adjust until the tip of the flat beater barely touches the dime.When your done, you'll be back in business.
