You could have a lid magnet out of position. Quick check for that is to place a magnet over the left bumper with the lid raised and see if the OP error code clears.
If it does you need to remove the inner panel of the lid to access the lid magnet see page 32 of the Service Manual for the procedure.
If the external magnet doesn’t clear the OP error code you will have to start troubleshooting the Left Hand Lid Lock. You could have severe corrosion with and an open lead on the magnetic reed switch in the Left Hand Lid lock. Link to replacement Left Hand Lid Lock
See this post Left Hand Lid Lock Troubleshooting for further info. I discuss troubleshooting the OD error code but you troubleshoot the OP error code the same way……Rich
Good Morning friend, thank you for your post!
I see that your Frigidaire refrigerator is displaying an "OP" error code and you want to know what it means. An "OP" could stand for open thermistor. This could be a possible problem with your thermistor or control panel. In any case that it is a false error code I would recommend performing a reset on your refrigerator and you can do that by unplugging the power cord for roughly ten minutes. If that does not help resolve your issue I would suggest consulting with a professional technician for proper diagnosis. Hopefully this is helpful information. -Matt
Hello scarter517 - Typically error code OP indicates that the freezer sensor is in an open position. A professional would need to check the wiring between the thermistor and board. If correct, the thermistor may possibly need replacing.
Sorry should read ""Confirm the model number and the 1st two digits if the serial number and I will see if I can help. Is the machine a FAV6800A or FAV9800A? Any error unbalance codes during the spin cycle like dc or UC? ""
You have lost signaling thru the left hand lid lock or have a lid magnet out of posistion.
With the lid open try placing a magnet over the left hand grey lid bumper with the lid open.
If the OP error code clears then it's a Lid Magnet issue. If the OP error code dosen't clear we need to troubleshoot the Left Hand lid lock or replace. I prefer to troubleshoot further before buying a part. Let me know what you want to do. If you want to troubleshoot/DIY the repair we need to move your issue to a better DIY appliance repair forum. Try the external magnet first and rule out a Lid Magnet out of position issue.

See if an external magnet over the left grey lid bumper will clear the OP error code.
If you place a couple magnets over the left gray bumper and the "OP" error code doesn't clear then I feel you have a problem with the Left Hand Lid Lock.
