lift up & out on the drip tray (it will come out) after removing it you will see 3 screw. unscrew the screws & lift the face plate of the despenser & it will come off. Be careful though. There is a ribbon wire connected to the back of the face plate. make sure to dissconect the ribbon wire from the control board not the back of the face plate (its alot harder to reconnect to the face plate & pretty simle to reconnect to the control board).

Hello, welcome to FixYa.
It could be a number of things so the problem will need to be narrowed down. Based on your post though the place I would start is as follows, making sure the compressor itself is coming on/operating...likely not.
The noise you alluded to, "i think what i hear is the compressor clicking on every 4 min" sounds to me to be a faulty "ptc" or also known as a starting device.
If you feel like you can trouble shoot further I`ve provided the following info to assist you or you may decide to call a professional appliance technician...it's your call.
I don`t know the age of your fridge, but I should mention...
** Most of the manufacturers of fridges ( including Frigidaire ) have 5 to 10 years sealed system warranty which would include the compressor but not the electrical starting devices i.e., the overload & relay. Check your owners manual, it is the ultimate authority on warranty no matter what anyone else tells you according to.**
If you have a multi- meter you can check the compressor to see if the windings are ok.
**First, Unplug the fridge**
Remove the panel at the back down at the bottom. This should gain you access to the compressor.
On the side of the compressor will be the start relay/overload assembly such as this image...it may be enclosed in a black plastic cover as well.
Pull off the relay & overload and you'll see 3 pins in the form of a triangle...
With a meter measure between any 2 pins at one time, going between each pin with one remaining on a "common" pin.
You'll want 3 measurement's, similar to this example- 6ohms, 3ohms, and 9ohms.
On some meters you may simply get a reading of "0" ohms, as long as the needle moves off of "infinity" which would indicate an "open" winding=not good !
If following that, the readings are good, purchase a hard start kit. Part # HS410 also known as a 3in1 starter kit.
i.e.
The above package contains info and hardware on how to connect it.
NOTE : the HS410 ( 3 in 1 ) should be considered just a temporary "fix" as opposed to an actual "repair" in should not be relied on for long term reliability or safety, but rather thefactory replacemnet, double check with your model number.
Hope that help`s move you forward if nothing else. If so please take a second and rate the guidance and a testimony to your inquiry you received here at FixYa, either or all is appreciated.
Let me know if the compressor is indeed operating yet the fridge or freezer fail to cool, if that is the case you could have a leak in the system, a restriction or even a mechanical failure within the compressor/not pumping. Good luck and I'll continue to help in any manner I can.
Regards,
Macmarkus :)
I appreciate your post, Deborah!
From what you have described you need to replace the door light switch on your Frigidaire freezer. In order to assist you further I would need your model number. You can locate your serial tag (which lists your model number) on the inside wall of your freezer. I look forward to assisting you. -Matt
Hello Emily R - Do you hear anything running in the machine compartment and what type of airflow is the condenser fan providing (try removing the toe grille, located above the drain pain on the bottom right-hand side)? If you do not hear the compressor and unit is providing room temperature, it usually means the unit may have a faulty compressor or a sealed system leak. I would personally recommend contacting the manufacturer for a listing of authorized technicians who may assist you in repairing your unit and reinstalling the part that has been removed due to liability reasons.
