My fridge stopped cooling and freezing 4 days ago.I hear fans inside running and it just blows slightly cool air against the ice maker.The compressor is HOT and the main fan for the condensor doesn't seem to want to come on. We have had a few brown outs in the last few months I called the place that sold it to me, They told me that when the power goes off it numerous times like it did it throws the timer off so the fridge goes warm. They told me there may be 2" wall of ice between the back and the useable area So I'm to unlug it for 24 hours to let the ice melt. 4 days it has sat unplugged, NO MELTED ice/water on the floor. Everything is clean at the back & under neath I am now at wits end why this fridge won't work properly.

If it has fan to deliver cold air, and it is not working, cold air is stuck on the begining. So your fan could be dead. And I suppose, that compressor is running all the time. Even compressor could stert freezing if fan does not deliver cold air in fridge. The other option is, that there is not enough gas in the compressor. In this case compressor vould not be freezing, but line, going out of compressor has to be hot, if it is not, there is no gas.

If freezer cooling but fridge not cooling,then its a defrost issue.First freezer cools,then cool air from freezer gets to fridge and fridge gets cool.But if freezer defrost cycle not taking place then its faulty defrost assembly parts.

I would check the fan to see if it is blowing cold air from one compartment to the other.

the heating element in your freezer might be bad or the thermostat. that is way your freezer is not melting the ice inside and the noise that you hear it's the fan that prob' tuch ice or also is getting bad.

Cooling fan, behind internal plasic panel is frozen up, happens with me regularly, self defrost function not working properly, i'm just fixing mine as I write. I have found that bottom drain hole was all full of ice also. Have cleared with anti-freeze/hot water till runs through. Take out all shelves, remove back panel, there are screws behind chrome bezel and also inde-odoriser recesses (those two square plastic covers). Unscrew plastic water chiller, be careful not to damage pipes. Remove the back platic moulding, unclipping wire connectors and cooling fan is fastened to back, it will be frozen up with ice! I use hair dryer/ de-icer to thaw, dry off as much as possible. Beware, moulding is mainly polystyrene, i.e fragile. I suspect that I keep getting problems because I didn't clear out the bottom drain hole, so it did not defrost. Tell tale sign is noisy fan (hitting ice) which eventually freezes up and stops blowing cold air which causes fridge to stop cooling, compressor still works though!

Had to call in the experts...needed a defrost heater and 2 sensors.Hope this is helpful to anyone w/ a similar problem.

If you have NO water in ice maker... check to see if inlet water valve to ice maker is still good.

Frig not cooling...
Look in freezer see if any frost build up, on back wall ..make sure fan in freezer is blowing.. also fan in back by compressor

check you paperwork , and manual. sounds like a compressor issue, which "should" be covered by 5 year manufacture warr. reason i say "should" is hte warr's all changed jan1/06. only one year form there . but check your manual itll have the warr info in it

If you are sure the fan in the freezer is running and you don't feel any air flow out of the top middle vent inside the fridge section, then the damper motor must be bad. The damper motor is behind that vent cover inside the fridge section.
