On the cell, go to connection in tool settings...change settings blutooth/usb or data (blutooth is blutooth, usb is connection to cell storage and data is for cell vital info)... some cell also have infared

try using a (tester) i don't nkow aht you call it their, , , test all four lines of your cable lines . . if one of them won't work especially the b;ack or the grey wire. . . it will surely not work if you connect it to your laptop . . .
