Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ5 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I can't get my camera (Lumix DMC-FZ50) to take pictures. Every time I turn it on it displays, "MEMORY CAR ERROR PLEASE CHECK THE CARD". I've tried 3 different SD cards from 2GB to 8GB and always get the same message. The cards work fine on our other Kodak camera. Any suggestions?

Were these cards from another camera and now you want to start using them in the Lumix? If so, you must format the card in the Lumix to get it to work. This will erase the card so download any pics first.

Testimonial: "One thing I forgot to include was that I can't format the card in the Lumix camera because whenever I turn it on all the camera will display is the "MEMORY CARD ERROR..." message, ie I can't do anything else. Thanks for your help. Any other suggestions?"

Is the slide switch on the side of the card in the "unlocked" position? Have you gone into the menu of the camera and tried "reset"?

Have a DMC-FZ50 camera have used the same 2GB sandisk card and has worked with no problems..I recently turned my camera on and got the MEMORY CARD error please check card..If I'm to format the card how...

Please insert the card into the card reader in your computer/laptop. If it works, then copy all the pics to the computer and then from My Computer, format this card. If it does not work, then you must try a different computer.
After you have saved your pics, you can even format it with your camera. All cameras have an option to format in the settings.

I have an urgent issue of needing to display date Lumix DMC-FZ50

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Cameras-Camcorders/Digital-Cameras/Lumix-Digital-Cameras/model.DMC-FZ50K for pdf version of manual. The K or S means the color of camera you have...black or silver. My wife has that camera, there is no way to display the date/time on the pictures themselves, you will have to look at the properties of the image. All images now contain certain data that is hard for the novice to change and might be able to be used in certain courts...good luck, hope it's not too late.
