Logitech Quickcam V11.8 recently crashed my Window xp blue screen and had to reinstall the Windows xp. Now I use the same camera by plugging into the usb port and it runs better.. (note I didn't even install the driver and run the disk). But after a few use in one incident the blue screen appeared again and restarted my window. I suspect it is the Logitech Webcam that caused the crash last time which I wasn't sure what actually caused it.

I have a Logitech Quickcam Orbit AF which causes my computer to crash whenever I try to use video. My os is windows 7 ultimate. Any ideas? DHA

It is most likely the driver for your camera. Check the Logitech website for the most up-to-date drivers and install them.

The crash screen, otherwise known as the "Blue Screen Of Death" or BSOD, is usually caused by an error on the driver level. This can happen when code in the driver for the device conflicts with something in Windows or your computer hardware, and the system shuts down to prevent damage. The BSOD gives information about what conflict occurs, and creates a "dump" file with more detailed information.

There is a freeware utility you can download here that will analyze the dump and give you more information about what caused it.

    2. Please see here for the clean boot procedures.
    3. Doubleclick the icon for the Logitech camera software download file.
    4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.

  1. Return Windows to its normal state.

Webcam causing windows to shut down

Hi,
I think this a problem with a USB driver. I had a similar problem once with a USB mouse and keyboard, when running XP. I never isolated the reasons for it happening, but I uninstalled the USB drivers for both and reinstalled them and rebooted and the problem disappeared.
Maybe try uninstalling the Logitech driver and then doing a Registry Clean (and a Clean System) with nCleaner and then downloading the latest zipfile for your webcam model from the Logitech support webpage.
Then plug the webcam in. It will detect and try to look for drivers but not be able to find any.
Now unzip the driver to a folder. Go to Control panel > System > Device Manager, and look for the Unknown Device with a yellow exclamation mark next to it. Double click it to open the driver window and then click the Driver tab. Press Install Driver and choose the 'Browse Computer for Driver' type option and navigate to the folder you unzipped the driver to, select it and open it.
It will Install and then you should reboot.
The problem should be solved, unless some IRQ conflict still happens, in which case you should do a Scan for Errors with an operating system disk.

SO, to sum up, when in doubt, uninstall the driver, clean the registry, reinstall the latest driver, reboot!

Hope that helps
