I had to rebuild the hydro-gear transaxle due to some gears breaking and being shot through the case . I got the transaxle put together and on the mower but I have 2 left over springs that I am not sure where they go and I cannot tell from the manual. One spring looks like it is part number 142431 but the exploded parts list is not clear where this part goes. The second spring is similar in style to part number 106888X but I cannot even find the part on the parts list? The mower seems to operate fine without either of these.

SOURCE: Craftsman Transmission problem

Some of these tractors have a friction wheel that is driven off of a flat wheel on the bottom of the engine drive shaft. The rubber ring on this friction wheel could be worn out, or it could be out of adjustment.

SOURCE: lawn mower has hydro gear transaxle reverse was

Most of the time when this happens the reverse shift linkage is too short. It is usually cause by either a bent linkage or worn linkage bushings.

The internal shifting fork can be bent inside the transmission which is rare but does occasionally happen... most of the time it is a linkage problem. Also check on the side of the transmission to make sure the shifting lever has not moved from the original position on the Yoke shaft.

Which oil can I put in the tranny of a sittingmower?

Hydro-Gear transaxle factory spec is 5W20 motor oil but OEMs will typically require 5W20 Synthetic for extreme use (ZTR mower warranty dodge). Just use JD Hygard hy-tran fluid if you have some extra.

I have a craftsman 8200 pro series lawn tractor won' go forward or reverse belt does not move there is a squeal sound from back wheel when you put it in drive

I believe this unit has the Hydro Gear K46 transaxle (transmission). Be sure the belt as not slipped out of place from the transaxle (transmission) drive pulley,

If belt is OK, then, possibly the transaxle is low on fluid. Unfortunately the K46btransaxle is a sealed unit. Fluid can be added, but it involves lowering the transaxle. If it is low on fluid then it obviously has leaked out some where, likely a shaft seal. If fluid has leaked from a shaft seal, the seal will need replaced. Or it could just be transaxle is kaput.

See Hydro Gear link for more information. https://www.tufftorqservices.com/instance1EnvEEdefault/FlatHTML/TechInfo/docs/repair/K46_T40_TLT200Axle_Seal_REPLACEMENT.pdf

Husqvarna gear oil

I assume you are referring the the transaxle? The replacement oil in the transaxle is as follows: This model ran either a Hydro-Gear or Tuff-Torque transaxle. If Hydro-Gear use: 20W50 synthetic. If Tuff-Torque use: 10W30 synthetic.

I have a hydro gear transmission i have changed oil and when it gets hot it will not move it is a simplicity rider 2000 mod.i need help please my email is [email protected] thank you kindy

Your transmission is shot. You need to buy a new or used one and install it. Or there may be a rebuild facility which will rebuild yours. Either way it will not be cheap.

Have 2001 celica has a faulty center shaft bearing in the gear box, how bad is that?

That is real bad. Eventually, the bearing will have a critical failure, and the bearing will break up. This will lead to peices of metal in the transaxle, and the pieces will get between the gears, and snap the teeth off of the gears. This will result in the need for a replacement of the transaxle.

At this point, you either need to get it fixed, or be prepared to locate a replacement transaxle.

I have observed this several times. Each and every time, I ended up replacing the transaxle. One case had a chunk of the outer case blown off, from the peices breaking up inside the transaxle. Plus, it gives you no warning when it ultimatly fails.
