The Microsoft wireless mouse comes with a wireless receiver, right? Before you do anything, the first thing that you can try is to replace the batteries with fresh ones.

If same problem occur, try to connect the wireless receiver into different USB ports of the computer. Then check if your wireless receiver and mouse has a connect button. If it does have connect buttons, briefly press the connect button on the receiver, then hold down the connect button on the mouse for 5 seconds. Then release the connect buttons.

If you get the same problem, hold down both connect buttons (receiver and mouse) at the same time for 5 seconds.

Last, try to connect the wireless receiver into different computer. If you get the same problem, send the receiver and mouse to the manufacturer for repair.

Thank you and good luck!

Replaced Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2000 doesn't work

I would have suggested opening up your old mouse and cleaning the right click button first.

Generally, wireless devices have a connect button that finds the frequencies of the devices. On the receiver press this button, then press the button on the bottom of your new mouse. the receivers lights will stop flashing once connected.

My wireless mouse freezes

I had a similar freezing problem with a wireless Logitech mouse and also a problem with the wireless keyboard, sometimes keystrokes would not register and sometimes they'd repeat a dozen times.
I was not able to fix the problem, so I got a Microsoft wireless mouse and keyboard, hoping it was a driver conflict that wouldn't affect both products. Wrong. The exact same thing happened to the Microsoft mouse and keyboard.
The cause of the problem turned out be that I had the receiver plugged into a USB hub along with several other devices. Moving the receiver to one of the USB ports in the back of the PC fixed the problem.
Apparently these wireless desktop devices don't like sharing USB resources with anything else.

Not working

dear,

The small notch in usb device socket under the mouse could be malfunctioning. If you press this notch you will find the mouse red light blink. If you further try pressing this notch at some point the mouse red light comes on constantly. Thats it, hold it there and try to connect first by pressing the usb device connect switch and then the mouse connect switch. The moment the connection is made the usb device stops blinking and the red light on the mouse starts blinking. Wow, it works now. Some one might just open the mouse and fix this microswtich for a permanent solution.

MS Wireless notebook mouse 4000

I have already broken two of them. It seems that the receiver is very sensitive to hits. Probably a PCB issue. I disassembled the receiver and discovered that if I bend it a little it starts working but if I leave it stops.
