Akai PDP42Z5TA 42 in. Plasma base removal

Most of the jacks including the cbl jack are mounted vertically under a lip towards the bottom (rear of coarse)

i just had this same problem with my 42" akai plasma and after getting no help no where i finally figured it out on my own. The model i have is a PDP42Z5TA but my guess it will work with yours also.if your remote is like mine there should be a "set" button somewhere up at the the top.hold this down till the "tv" button goes solid red. with the tv on or off keep pressing the power button till the tv turns on or off( dont go too fast) or you can pass it up easily cause when the tv does turn on or off you have to hit enter to lock it in.

You have just found out why the plasma sets are fading from the market.
Both of you may have a power supply problem. The PS in plasma TVs is more complex than in LCD sets and therefore more likely to fail.

Since Akai is so poor on product support, they may not even have parts since that set was made by Samsung who also doesn't want to hear anything about them (their site doesn't recognize the Akai model number), you may be out of luck.

In researching Akai, I find large number of folks who will not buy any Akai anythings again.
This kind of performance is unusual for a Japanese company.

The base is attached by four, inset, allen screws on the back of the unit, bottom. The 'key' word is INSET (recessed).

The base removes with the support arms that rise the height of the tv. remove all the screws from the back of the support arms and the base will slide out with the arms. you will need the holes open to mount to the wall mount

there is an anti theft device on the wall mounts you need the manual to adjust mount to take off

There are two handles on this set that come off with the removal of two screws. The base has posts that slide in up from the bottom. Trace the legs up and remove the two screws that hold each leg. You need a second person to help lift the set from the base. Now mount to the wall bracket.

I purchased a HARMONY remote ( logitech ) and it worked for the AKAI PDP4273M .
