Forst thing is to put a known signal into the speakers, say from a CD recorder to isolate a possible mixer or other source being marginal.

If the sound is still bad, verify that your volume settings are reasonable.

DO NOT crank the gain on these speakers full and then throttle the signal to them as that cause poor signal-to-noise ratio.

If you have driven these speakers very hard (these are only INTENDED for lower level monitoring within the engineer's booth), you MAY have damaged the speakers. It htat case, repair will be necessary.

Try to determine if the lows or highs or both are bad sounding.

My peavy escort 1500 keeps shutting off but will come back on if I turn it off and on is it a fuse?

Can't be fuses, as it comes back on!

Questions:-
i) Does it go off when run continuously with volume controls at zero?
(this checks whether the audio output level is causing a problem).

ii) When the unit does operate, is the sound good on both speakers?

iii) Does the fault occur more when outdoors (wind noise tripping the power protection). If so, reduce the low freq EQ setting.

iii) Do the EQ lights flutter when the fault occurs?

This fault has been reported on the Escort 3000 too, see link
Peavey Escort 3000 sound cutting out - Peavey Forum
suggesting this may need a 'electronic modification' to put it right.

Hope this helps.

Have a xga 4000 amp only channel 2 works fine . Channel 1 very very low

Switch input connection pairs and if the 'fault' doesn't changes from one channel to the other it is almost certainly an amplifier or output fault.
Likewise switching the speakers. If after swapping the speaker connections the fault changes to the other speaker it is an amplifier fault. If not a speaker fault.

Mackie srm 350v2 speaker packed up

I believe there is an internal fuse in these which, according to a friend who has these, seems to blow occasionally for no apparent reason. He has also had to send two back for replacement and would not buy again, they seem to be inherently unreliable although they sound great.

No sound coming out for my hartke amps?

Are the internal speakers properly connected via the rear-mounted 1/4 inch "Speaker Output" jack? If so and still no sound, try connecting a separate external speaker (floor monitor, pa cabinet) for a "low volume" test.

The OM says the internal speakers are 4 ohm so it's unlikely that a wiring problem with speaker connections would cause all four to stop working. With AC power disconnected from outlet check for an internal speaker protection fuse BUT be careful. Charged capacitors can hold a charge for weeks!!!

When turning my Marshal MG250 DFX on, there is a terrible buzzing sound. I have tried it on different speakers and the buzzing still occurs. It does not change in volume when i adjust the volume. Whats the...

This is likely a filter capacitor issue. The right tool to troubleshoot is an oscilloscope. This could also be a failed power amp that is driving high DC current with ripple into your speaker. This can permanently damage the speaker. Repair this before using it.

Very low output no power like used to

This amplifier has a VERY complex output section with a bunch of parallel transistors and several of those may have failed resulting in low output. Two other things can happen: Use of small gauge speaker cables eats up the available power. Changing or using damaged speakers can draastically change perceived sound levels. Checking the output waveform amplitude and voltage under load is with an oscilloscope the only way to diagnose this problem.

JCM2000 DSL100 No Sound

Not likely to be a fuse. The bane of electrical amps are the connectors.

Often the speaker and more commonly the input 1/4 inch connectors go bad. Sometimes caused by side loads when cables are yanked or tripped over.

Be careful of running amps IF the speakers are not connected OR have bad connectors or cables. You can arc over the tubes or pop transistors.

Get a cheap Volt-ohmeter from HarborFreight or Radio Shack and test your cables and connectors.

For a tube amp, your should find relatively low resistance at the speaker connector (certainly under 20 ohms). Do this with power off.

NO sound through the AMP even though the power light comes on

Not a fuse. First thing, to check your speaker (amp unplugged, of course), touch the + and - speaker connections to a 9V battery. If you don't hear a pop sound then your speaker is blown. Thus, no output sound. If speaker is OK, then the output IC is your problem.
