By default, the HP all-in-one sends all scans to the HP Photo & Imaging Gallery for you to preview. Suppose that you want to scan your photos directly to email instead. To do this you will need to modify the destination assigned to the front panel scan button. Here is how to do it:

  1. If you have not already done so, open the HP Director and click Settings , point to Scan Settings & Preferences , and click Scan to… Setup . The Button Settings dialog box appears, with the Destination List tab on top. The HP all-in-one automatically inventories your computer and lists all the possible scan destinations for you in the Available Scan Destinations list.
  2. Using our example of scanning directly to email, select the Email destination in the Front Panel Destination List and click the Move arrow to move it to the top of the listing.
  3. Click OK to save the new destination setting and close the dialog box. All of the scans you do using the HP all-in-one front panel buttons will now be sent directly to your email program, instead of to the HP Photo & Imaging Gallery.
  4. Click Scan Picture or Scan Document in the HP Director to scan using your new settings, or click a Scan button on the HP all-in-one front panel.
also
Setting a default scan profile Use the following steps to apply a scan profile to all future scans.
  1. If you have not already done so, open the HP Director and click Settings , and click Scan Settings and Preferences .
  2. Click one of the following, depending on the type of scan profile:
    • Scan Picture Settings
    • Scan Document Settings
    • Button Settings The corresponding dialog box appears. If you chose Scan Picture Settings or Scan Document Settings , the Scan Settings tab is on top. If you chose Button Settings , the Scan Button tab is on top. All of these tabs have the setting you need, Apply Scan Profile .
  3. On the Scan Settings or Scan Button tab, click Apply Scan Profile and select the scan profile that you want.
  4. Click OK . The scan profile that you selected will apply to all future scans for the scan type that you selected.

How do I save scanned documents to the computer

You need a scanner to scan pictures which can be saved in various formats including .pdf, bmp .jpg

Some scanners if linked to a computer by a cable or wifi will automatically save the files to a folder on your computer.

If you don’t have a scanner but have a smart phone with a camera you can take pictures or phone scans then email them to an account on your computer.

I want to save the scan to the computer. What do I have to do?

HI, If you have Photo shop Elements, go to File then Import and look up you scanner from the list. If you are scanning from the scanner, it must see your computer to save to a file you created.
I use Photo shop, I've never scanned from the scanner onto the computer.

Take care...

I want to save scanned document as a .doc using CanoScan 8400F

Scanners only see millions of dots. Unless it has software to convert a picture into a document, all documents are seen by scanners as pictures made of of millions of dots. Software is available to convert it to a Microsoft Doc format but it is very expensive.

Scanning to import to a computer

Normal 0 The best way to scan images to save on your computer is touse the scanner software on the computer. Not the scan function on the scanner.
You don't say what type of scanner and software you have but usually scannersoftware works this way:
1) Place photo on scanner
2) Open scanner software
3) Using the software, Initiate scan
4) Name the Scanned item and save it to your desired location/folder
Note: some applications will automatically save to --My Documents--My Pictures
5) Repeat process for each pic to be scanned.

Help

You'll have to do that in the software that handles the image after scanning. Do you start scanning from your computer, or direcly on the scanner? While executing the scan from the computer, you can select the save-path there. While executing directly on the scanner you need to to go to the settings of your scanner, i think.
