We have a Mitsubishi 65 inch dlp hd 1080p and we had a bad storm but we do have a surge protector on the tv. When we went to watch the tv after the storm it turned on fine but the dish had to reboot. After watching for about 5 min we heard a loud snap come from the tv followed by a worrying sound about ever 30 seconds. The red light came on from with no picture. Any suggestions?

Something died in there - perhaps a capacitor or a solid state device just blowing and cracking into pieces. happens. Open up the set and see if you can spot it around the power supply area.

You need to replace the "light engine". This is very very difficult. You need to take it to a repair shop. But this will be very expensive. Around $1,000.00

SOURCE: My DLP TV made a loud popping sound then went off

first. unplug the set for 5 minutes and see if it will reboot. if it does not the you have 2 problems, the chassis is also bad. next open the lamp door cover, it is behind the speaker grill, and behind the lamp door.
take out the lamp and see if it has broken on the inside if it has it needs to be replaced. mits will send you one i believe it is about 100.00 the number is 915P020010. if the lamp looks ok then the color wheel has probably fallen apart.if this is the case the light engine need to be repaired. check out www.tv-techs.com

SOURCE: HEARD LOUD POP NOISE DLP TV DOES NOT WORK

Following up on my Feb 7 post. My new lamp arrived, and I replaced it and it works great. The old lamp had many shards of glass come out of it. It was tore up. I saved some money buy purchasing just the lamp and not the cartridge. It's a little bit more work to take apart, but saves money. Mitsubishi wanted $289 for the lamp replacement kit. I got a lamp for $114. TV is working just fine now!

Just chaged the dlp chip now the tv has strips

You didn't get the chip seated properly. You will have to get back in there. Remove the chip. Make sure you didn't bend any pins. Re-install the chip and make sure that it gets locked in with the locking tab. Take your time and you should be alright. I hope this helps.

Mitsubishi WS- 65809 65 INCH

If your TV is not powering on you probably blew the power supply. These TV are sensitive to power surges. Be sure to use a power strip with power filtering technology (different from a surge protector) costing around $80.00
