We own an lg 42PX5D television that we purchased in 2006. Over the years we have noticed that there are shadows especially when the scene is at night. Also there is some snow or white flecks especially in the black background. Thes symptoms are more noticable when watching a channel that is not hd. What would you suggest?

Check the site linked below, and see the screen shots of defective LCD TVs, Surf it with patience. This should be a panel fault I assumes. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
body{padding: 10px;}#Post p {margin: 0px; padding: 0px;}#Post ul{padding: 0px;margin: 0px;list-style-position: inside;}I had the same problem with a sanyo. I believe it is a problem with the hdmi receptical. Mine got worse over time. Liquid crystal tvs are famous for this. I bought an LED and love it. You could have it repaired but it will happen again. Sorry
Unplug it,for a couple hours.Replug it back should stop. Not check ur manual contol see any buttons stuck in plastic that held the manual contol board.Might have to replaced the manual control board to solved this problem.
This problem happens to plasma TVs usually due to the Z SUS part, Z SUS board and Z Drive Board, malfunctioning. The Z SUS is responsible in resetting the screen for the next picture to appear. If it malfunctions, the image of the previous picture freezes and appears as shadow. Usually, the last image on the screen when you turned the unit off appears when you turn it back on before the actual picture appears. The usual fix for this is alignment. That is, adjusting the voltages that powers the boards to an appropriate value that is indicated on the back of the panel. You may need the service of a qualified technician to perform the alignment. I hope you find this information helpful.
Sometimes just adjusting the VSCAN voltage inthe set will cure it. Other times it will be a faulty panel. Either case requires a technician to do the repairs.
Looks like you need to adjust some panel voltages, usually the VS or VSCAN voltages, the panel on the inside of the set has a label with all these voltages on it and there are test points and small adjustors for changing these voltages, lower the VS voltage about 10 volts and while adjusting them have it hooked up and turned on, so you can watch the changes take place, if your not sure how to do it get an electronics specialist to do it, these tv's are loaded with high voltagers and can cause severe shock, be careful
