I noticed my pool was leaking air. I opened the upper ring blow up valve and there is hole inside of it. Can this be repaired? I would hate to get rid of my pool just because the air valve has a hole right beside the hole where it is blown up.

Take a 12 X 12 piece of plastic wrap, wet the pool ring, slide the plastic sheet along until you see the air bubble appear, mark leak with marker pen. Use repair patch. I swear this is better than soapy water!

I hear that GORILA brand duck tape will work as a one time temporary fix, Inflate the ring, push the air nipple IN with the cap on, then make sure surface is DRY, apply a square of Gorilla brand duct tape over the inverted nipple. They say only Gorilla duct tape works.

I think it is suppose to have a hole that closes after you have filled it with air, i.e., reverse pressure against the hole coming from inside the ring once inflated. Having said that, my blue ring has a leak, too in its second year of usage. The Intex website suggests spraying liquid soap around the seams and watch for bubbles. I've sprayed soap around the air intake valve and no bubbles. I've pushed the inner pool side of the ring down into the water and no bubbles. It will be very difficult to spray the soap and watch for bubbles around the outside seam between the blue ring and the pool. I went to a Leslie's Pool Supply store for advice and one kid thought maybe it would help to put a bead of silicone type gel (like grout?) on the outside seam between the blue ring and the pool. My husband thinks that's a waste of time. Anybody out there have any ideas? Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry. My first time on this site. My post was not a solution obviously.

spray on sealants like "LEAK STOPPER" has a possible fix, but the ring must be deflated, and DRT and after spraying, has to stay that way for 24-36 hours, and may require several applications while dry and deflated , allllowing Leak Stopper to cure thru out before you can attempt re-infating, 30% chance of success or less.

DeWalt D51823 nailer leaks air and shoots continusously

Common problem with dewalt due to vinyl orings. Simple tests to determine if trigger valve may work before re-installing. With trigger valve in hand, depress the trigger pin and hold. The bottom of the inner spool is visable in the opposite side from trigger pin and should move inward slightly with little effort when you push it (spool should have almost no movement inward before making contact with body of valve ). If the spool moves inward 1/16 to 1/8 inch, most likely the oring is too worn and not making contact with body of valve (when under pressure, this spool is held against body of valve (closed), and will open when pin is depressed (firing pin pushes on the spring and spring pushes open the valve) ). Next take valve apart and pull out the spool (spool should be difficult to remove from lower body of valve). With spool in hand push upper part of spool into the cap, should fit snuggly. trigger pin has two orings. The upper oring should fit snuggly into cap and lower oring snuggly into spool. The two orings on the pin are made of vinyl and fail. Notice that the spool has a small hole at the bottom. If the pin oring s bad air will leak past pin. Replace with 2mmx1.5mm black oring. After replacing the two pin orings, make sure the pin fits snuggle in the cap and spool, if not , replace the whold valve. The spring is usually good, but if rusty, replace the whole valve unless you happen to have the exact spring in good condition. The two outer orings on the body of the valve do not have to be replaced unless cut. Good luck

We have had a slow leak in the top blue inflatable ring. This summer we had to put so much air in it so often, that the air plug cracked. Is there anyway to replace the air plug? I hate to throw the...

Head over to a sporting goods store and see if they may have a replacement air valve that you can glue onto the vinyl.
it will be very similar to the ones found in blow-up sleeping bag cushions

I have a System 3 Starite filter model S7M120 with a StrRite Max E -Glass II pump. When the filter cycle starts it blows air bubbles into the pool through the inputs. After a short time the air bubbles...

Sounds like you have a minor leak somewhere. most likely when the system is off the water is siphoning back into pool, and air is slowing seeping into system. Air can be getting in anywhere there is a joint, fitting, valve, seal, union, etc. Leaks can be broken down into two types: leaks on the suction side and leaks on the pressure side. Leaks on the pressure side are relatively easy to spot as you'll see water leaking while the system is running. Leaks on the suction side are harder to find as they **** in air which is obviously not easy to see or find. When the system is running look closely for leaks everywhere. If you find any fix them one at a time till the problem goes away. On the suction side, try wiggling and twisting things to see if you can find anything loose. Replace all union o-rings, the pump basket o-ring, leaf trap o-rings, etc., and see if problem goes away. If you have any 2 or 3-way jandy valves, try turning them while the system is running and see if any air gets in the system. If so you probably need to replace those o-rings as well. If you suspect air is leaking at a fitting somewhere, take some black electrical tape and wrap it tightly around the joint several times to fill the crack (this only works on suction side) this is a temporary repair, but works great to find and temporarily fix an air leak. I've seen people leave a repair like this for over a couple years and still work find, although I don't recommend it. If you find a leak at a pvc fitting, or a threded fitting that is not easy to fix, for example you may need to cut pipe and re-plumb several fittings and valves, there is another type of temporary repair that sometimes works very well. What you do is clean the area very well, take some RTV silicone sealant, and rub it as best you can around and into the leak, then turn on the pump for about 2-3 seconds (this sucks the glue into the crack) then rub more glue into the area as best you can. let this dry over night. If you still can't find the problem you most likely need to call a leak detection company, or get creative and start plugging and pressurizing things to find the problem.

I have a Leisure Bay 24 ft above ground pool thathas a 1.5 hp Jacuzzi Hurricane pump and a jacuzzi sand filter. The pump is moving water very well but I noticed I have "a lot" off bubbles under...

probably a "O" ring as the seal
if the pump is doing what it is supposed to be doing and everything is normal. I would not stress about air under the cover as water contains air in suspension ( how fish get their oxygen to live) and from the turbulent action of the pump impeller , some of that air will be released and collected at the highest point of the flow line

Just had pool opened. They turned port dial to 2

Welcome to FixYa
Dear Sir/Madom,
If your skimmer is tied to your main drain, then both holes have to be uncovered for your skimmer to work.
If you have a separate line all the way back to your equipment from your main drain, then you may want to try to open both holes in the skimmers. Turn off your Unit to unscrew the retaining screw on the valve, and then slide the big end over.
If you've not had your pool run all winter, then you may have leaves/debris caught in the line.
If so-you can swing by a plumbing supply house and get a powerflush hose attachment.
  • Make sure that none of the holes in any of your skimmers are covered by the oval tab in the skimmer.
  • Then, if you have any valves on the inlet to pool pump, rotate them in such a manner to isolate the skimmer line that isn't working, making sure that it is open.
  • Place the hose and powerflush device in the upper inlet port of the pool pump, with the pump lid/cover and basket removed. Then, pressurize the line back to the pool with tap water.
  • If it doesn't release right away, then let it sit a little while, as you may have to "pulse" it as water pressure drops as water leaks around the clog.
  • Pulsing it means to turn the water on for a few minutes, then turn it off. Then, turn it back on, and then turn it off again.

Look down into the bottom of the skimmer. It will have either one or two holes, depending on your model. These holes are where the pool plumbing attaches to the skimmer. Most skimmers have threads inside the holes, and a copper or PVC threaded fitting screws into these ports. Squirt food coloring just above the holes and see if any of it is pulled down into them. This indicates a leak which may be caused by a poor seal between the skimmer threads and the fitting. If you put your finger into the holes, you should be able to feel where the top of the fitting meets the skimmer threads.Repair any cracks or breaks in the skimmer walls with epoxy putty.Use the silicone sealer to repair areas where the skimmer has pulled away from the pool wall, where the corners are cracked, and in tile cracks. These leaks are the result of a cracked bond beam or shifting soil from water getting into the ground around the skimmer.

The top ring on my easy set pool leaks air. How

I suppose the pool is already full of water. You could remove some of the water, then use soapy water and a paint brush to find the leak. Bubble blowing liquid is ideal for this. This will be easier on the the outside than on the inside. Once found, you may be able to fix with duct tape. But they sell repair kits that probably work better. Don't use a tire or bike tube patch - those are for rubber. I hope this helps you, and I hope the kids have fun in the pool this summer! Al K
