Take a 12 X 12 piece of plastic wrap, wet the pool ring, slide the plastic sheet along until you see the air bubble appear, mark leak with marker pen. Use repair patch. I swear this is better than soapy water!
I hear that GORILA brand duck tape will work as a one time temporary fix, Inflate the ring, push the air nipple IN with the cap on, then make sure surface is DRY, apply a square of Gorilla brand duct tape over the inverted nipple. They say only Gorilla duct tape works.
I think it is suppose to have a hole that closes after you have filled it with air, i.e., reverse pressure against the hole coming from inside the ring once inflated. Having said that, my blue ring has a leak, too in its second year of usage. The Intex website suggests spraying liquid soap around the seams and watch for bubbles. I've sprayed soap around the air intake valve and no bubbles. I've pushed the inner pool side of the ring down into the water and no bubbles. It will be very difficult to spray the soap and watch for bubbles around the outside seam between the blue ring and the pool. I went to a Leslie's Pool Supply store for advice and one kid thought maybe it would help to put a bead of silicone type gel (like grout?) on the outside seam between the blue ring and the pool. My husband thinks that's a waste of time. Anybody out there have any ideas? Advice would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry. My first time on this site. My post was not a solution obviously.
spray on sealants like "LEAK STOPPER" has a possible fix, but the ring must be deflated, and DRT and after spraying, has to stay that way for 24-36 hours, and may require several applications while dry and deflated , allllowing Leak Stopper to cure thru out before you can attempt re-infating, 30% chance of success or less.
