Its just a matter of batteries...some are not powerful enough to operate the camera ....Try to change them and buy some real good ones..like Duracell or Tatra...do not make any compromises when buy the batteries...get the best cause these kinda cameras really require powerful ones...or ...try to get a set of rechargeable ...

My lcd display won't show the camera image while taking pics but it will show the menu and previously taken photos by pressing the play button. What could be wrong?

Turn the camera on, and press the DISP button on the back of the camera. This turns the LCD screen on and off. The idea of this button is to save battery power (you would then use the peep hole optical viewfinder in its place).

I have a powershot A480 canon camera and it date stamps all my photos. How do I disable this function?

If you press the "Function Select" button then press the outer ring UP or DOWN to select the icon that looks like a clock on the left and panel. Then press the outer ring LEFT or RIGHT until the L is selected and appears in the panel on the LHS. That will remove the date stamps from the photos.

Cheers, Richard

PS Great choice of camera by the way.

How do i get the sate to show on photos on a canonpowershot a480

The date/time stamp only works in "Postcard" resolution. Press the "Func Set" button, then scroll down to the bottom to select postcard resolution.
Then press the menu button. Select the "Camera" menu, then scroll down to the the Date Time Stamp selection to turn it on.

I have just purchased Canon Powershot A480

I think the "busy" part can be put down to the camera performing a function or recharging the flash. The red icon I THINK shows that the camera is focussing.

With the last model it worked so that you could half press the button to focus on something (eg a fast moving pet) and then once your pet stopped moving your could fully press the button to take a photo and the focus distance would remain the same.

Will not show photo

Did you accidentally press the DISP button on the back of your camera (the bottom button). This manually turns the screen on and off to save batteries. Try pressing it once more to see if that corrects the problem.
