I'm not familiar with the tv set, however here are some things to try.
It's possible that the tv powers up in stand-by mode, so you'll need to find a way to turn it on completely. See if there are channel +/- buttons on the tv and try them.
If the remote might be necessary, try to see if you have friends/family with a universal remote control, such as a Logitech Harmony, to lend to you for testing. This way you can avoid spending money for nothing on a remote.
Googling on this brand and model gives a lot of negativity though: a lot of problems posting, but no support or even an online manual. Personally I've never heard of Digistar. It might've been a bad investment.
Ur LCD inverter board is dead. This LCD inverter board help the LCD screen to have the backlight to have light to the LCD screen and get a picture.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish LCD inverter board for the replacement to get ur LCD backlight back to get a picture. This board is a long board in shape.
Plasma tvs do not have "back lights" LCDs do. you probably have a bad driver board along with the upper or lower buffer board or maybe both, best to have a tv shop look at it.
I suffered for 1 month shopping around for an universal remote control that has a code for the Digistar tv brand. It was in vain.
So just turn to the simplest way ..the programming with code search (on the guide of the universal remote control- which has not the code for digistar brand) In the paper it tell you exactly what to do. I bought a 3 device universal remote control. On mine it showed five easy steps to follow and the remote finds itself the code and programs it .You do not put any code ever, the remote just simply WORKS perfectly. I have solved this problem just 5 minutes ago..Oh ...I forget..On the universal remote control instruction it said that you might have to press the ON/OFF button up to 200 times , so i thought "I never tried this one, better then waist days and months will no solution. I nedded to do it only for 30 times or so beffore the TV turned OFF, and than I pressed the ok button on my remote (probably to save it- or who cares-as long as you follow the instructions). Then I could turn back on the Tv and P{LAy with the remote without putting any code as the remote it programmed for the Digiistar brand..I'm so HAPPY...Try it and spread the "new"...It is Ironic ..it was there all the time...we look in more complicated zones and do not see the solution sitting under our nose:((:))) GOOD LUCK!
It sounds like a stuck button or switch. What happens when you hit the channel DOWN, does it still keep scrolling down?
Is this with or without the remote?
Have you tried it with the remote and or the TV?
Let me know whether you are changing the channels with the remote or the buttons on the tv and I can try to give you a couple more suggestions. Mac =)
try code 238, if it does not work you will need to try the code search.
1) turn on tv 2) press and hold "code search" until indicator light comes on 3) release code search 4) press and release "tv", indicator light should blink once 5) aim remote at tv and press the power button until the tv turns off (you may have to press it 200 or so times) 6) once the tv turn off, press enter on the remote
