Peachtree 2010 networked with 2 workstations & 1 server. 1 work station running vista 2nd work station running xp home server is also running xp home This is NOT a new setup. It has been working fine for a few years, however, last login attempt resulted in error message "peachtree is unable to connect to its database". I need to resolve this issue.

Thank you...Connection?? No issues with anything else. Multiple companies & 6 workstations, all working fine. There is an issue, according to my "common sense" approach, it is with the server. Accountant was only on one workstation yet TWO workstations give same error. The issue is not connections between stations, but rather an issue with accessing the data base, on the server. I thought it was a simole mapping issue, however, i remapped the sage on the workstations to the server & still, same issue.

How to configure Olivetti passbook printer on two workstations

get a usb2.0 lan print server and plug the usb 2.0 into printer and the blue ethernet cable into the print server.
here are a few examples
PM1115U2 bt startech or
TL-PS110U by tp link

why..
it will save you headaches
if the sharing p.c is off you have no way to print.
if you add a usb print server
you can print any time from any computer

if you want to share the printer on the other computer they must have matching work group names in the computer ID's.
then when adding printer select networked printer

Windows Password Key 8.0 is considered as the best tool to reset local...

You can change a Windows User Account password that is on any Windows computer from any other Windows computer regardless of whether the User Account is on a workstation, a stand-alone server, or a Windows domain controller. Additionally, it makes no difference whether the password being changed from a workstation, a stand-alone server, or a Windows domain controller. This is true for any NT 4.0, W2K, XP Pro and Windows Server 2003 computer.
To change a user's password at the command prompt, log on as an administrator and type:

net user danielp * /domain
(This is only an example, use your own username)
When you are prompted to type a password for the user, type the new password, not the existing password. After you type the new password, the system prompts you to retype the password to confirm. The password is now changed.
Alternatively, you can type the following command:

net user danielp 123456 /domain
When you do so, the password changes without prompting you again. This command also enables you to change passwords in a batch file.
Note: If you type these commands on a member server or workstation and you don't add the /domain switch, the command will be performed on the local SAM and NOT on the DC SAM.

We have a LINUX Suse server. We have this nhatquanglan virus on our XP machines. I can do a system restore on the XP's and all functions (task manager, device manager, etc) that were disabled by the virus...

System restore on XP is restoring individual PC stations but because you have probably shared folders on linux server you have same problem on server. Solution:
  • Remove network cable from linux server
  • Install some antivirus solution for linux server (in case you don't have one) and scan and clean server from viruses.
  • Also after you remove network cables from workstations scan and remove viruses from XP stations
  • When you finish those steps atach network cables and probably you will not have that problem
Reason for that is becausesome viruses and trojans are spreading through shared folders

I have windows vista home premium on my home computer and have been experiencing some internet disruptions. The only two ways I have found to reset the internet connection is (1) unplug my router and then...

In the Control Panel, update the drivers. If still unsuccessful, delete those adapters, restart your workstation and reinstall drivers. Helpful to have another workstation nearby in case you need to download the drivers from the Internet.

Doesn't work with windows vista

1. check if there are lights on the specific router port where you have connected the Vista (e.g. if it is on port 2, check if there are lights on #2 at the front panel of the router).
2. check the ip address by going to command prompt (click start-run-type cmd press enter. on the command prompt, type ipconfig/all)
3. ip address should be similar to what your Windows XP is getting. Subnet mask, gateway, and DNS servers should be identical.

Eg. If XP has a 192.168.1.100 IP, your Vista should have 192.168.1.x IP address where x is a variable number other than 100.

4. If your IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS seems aligned for both PCs, check your browser settings. Open IE, go to tools, internet options, network connection and make sure that never dial a connection is selected.

User access

what version of vista are you using, this is a very important piece of information, vista home flavors are not very network friendly,I recommend that you keep using XP until a few service packs are out for vista. If your using ultimate then something else would be wrong, possibly a setting on the vista box, Im not real sure how vista's authentication works but if they changed it enough then it might require a compatiblity mode or something in order to authenticate with 2000/xp, but then again i could be wrong and vista might authenticate exactly the same way as 2000/xp, try setting an xp box up as a server and see if the vista box can authenticate with it, if so then maybe 2000 is the problem, sorry i couldnt give an actual solution but im still new to vista myself and dont have any pc's that will run it, my good computers are all macs.
