Question about Maytag Atlantis MAV6451 Top Load Washer
Black marks on clothes (in the shape of "()") and about 1" across. I have an 8 yr old Maytag washing machine problem has existed for several years. Mostly cold water washing.
Check and make sure the seal at the bottom of the washer is not wore out. Alot of times you will get grease from the bearins and drum assembly if this wears out.

Hello Loree Grudem - This can be the result of the shaft bearing and seal. They may have become worn and the transmission oil is creeping up to get in your water. Once this happens, it gets on your clothes to cause staining. Or possibly you have a buildup of fabric softener that comes loose and puts a greasy like substance in your water and on your clothing. Once you put your clothes in the dryer and the old fabric softener melts you will see these spots. I suggest contacting a professional to move forward accurately.

I have this same problem, my washer is a top loading Roper, I don't want to buy a new washer so any one with a suggestion would be really appreciated. I'm also noticing that sometimes where the () stain is are some tears, or holes being punctured into the fabric but not always.
